Danny Looking Forward to Next Term

DANNY INVINCIBILE knows this season can't be any worse than his first in Scottish football.

The Australian admits a year wrecked by injury woes was compounded when long-term girlfriend Bianca walked out on him.

The 25-year-old missed months of the previous campaign with ankle-ligament damage and struggled to make an impact in the SPL following his move from Swindon.

However, Invincibile is confident his worries are firmly in the past as he prepares himself for the big kick-off next weekend.

Invincibile said: 'When everything is going right it feels fantastic but when it's not then it's like the whole world is against you.

'Even your private life suffers and when I was at home I was feeling down. The thing with football is it's your job and if you can't do it every day then you feel like you are letting people down.

'You are frustrated because you can't do anything and I'm unable to sit on the sidelines and watch a game as I get too uptight.

'As a footballer you do take it home and that's what I did last season although hopefully I've learned from that.

'The girlfriend had to put up with me and then she left me in the middle of the season.

'I met her down south when I was at Swindon and she came up to Scotland with me but unfortunately it didn't work it.

'That just added to everything else that happened last season.

'Now I just have to make a fresh start although I have a feeling this will be a good year.'

'Last year I missed a good chunk of pre--season and then was out injured for a total of 118 days which is just ridiculous.

'When we started the season I wasn't 100 per cent fit and up until Christmas it was start-stop.

'I've written off last season with all the injuries and setbacks and I want to put that behind me.

'I had a decent end to the season and that helped me feel positive.

'I'm feeling a lot fitter and a lot more confident so hopefully that will be evident in my performances.'

Invincibile proved he has plenty to offer Killie in the closing weeks of last season when he finally regained full fitness.

The striker banged in five goals and with a good pre-season under his belt this time around he's hoping to build on that tally this year.
