Cheerio Belhaven, G'Day Fosters!

Killie today announced that leading Aussie lager brand Foster's will become the official beer at Rugby Park as part of a supply agreement with the stadium and The Park Hotel. That's a bonus as The Rumour Mill was claiming it was Carlsberg which is probably the worst lager in the world!

The deal will see Foster's investing £1million into the the club in return for pouring rights, a high profile advertising presence and hospitality at home games. A Foster's spokesman said: "Backed by a multi-million pound promotion spend, Foster's 'Super Chilled' (all the rage at The Howard) is growing rapidly in profile across the licensed trade in Scotland."

He continued: "We are delighted to associate the brand with Kilmarnock FC and with our supply agreement. We wish the club every success in the new season. This deal will provide excellent exposure for Foster's among our key target audience and will ensure that the 'amber nectar' continues to grow from strength to strength."

Davie Mackinnon said: "This major investment into Kilmarnock Football Club is a huge step in the overall business strategy. We are delighted that the positive progress of Kilmarnock FC, both on and off the park, has been recognised by a prestigious world brand such as Foster's.

The big question on the lips of every Killie fan of course is where is the money going to go...Davie Mackinnon spoke to killiefc.com this afternoon and said: "Half the money will go to the hotel with the rest split between the sports bar development and football business. Will Jim see any? Well it will allow us to bring in another player in an emergency situation, and allow next year's budget to have a bit of flexibility to sign players just outside the budget figure."

I hear that Real Madrid have made a move for Michael Owen and if we don't move quick he may sign for them instead of Killie...surely that could be classed as an emergency?
