Killie Trust Send Chairman Open Letter

More than a month after Jamie Moffat's announcement that the Moffat family were prepared to relinquish control of the Club, Killie fans are puzzled by the apparent lack of information coming forward in relation to what this means for their team. It is clear that there are at least two interpretations, of the official statement and this gives rise to a variety of questions, which are now being asked by the fans. On behalf of Killie fans everywhere, the Killie Trust has now collected some of the more pertinent questions doing the rounds and has put them to the Killie Chairman in an open letter delivered earlier this week...

OPEN LETTER FROM THE KILMARNOCK SUPPORTERS SOCIETY Ltd. TO JAMIE MOFFAT, CHAIRMAN OF KILMARNOCK FC.

Dear Jamie,

It is now 4 weeks since you announced your intention to actively seek new investment in Kilmarnock FC. In the period since there has been silence, leaving the fans confused, apprehensive and frustrated over the future of their Club. This has given rise to many questions from the fans that are currently unanswered.

The purpose of this letter is to seek answers or clarification to various points, generated by your statement, on behalf of all fans of Kilmarnock FC.

► You state that you are prepared to relinquish control of the Club if that is what is required to secure an investor. What investment in Kilmarnock FC shares by any individual is enough to secure a controlling interest or can that only be achieved by purchasing shares currently owned by you? Would you be prepared to remain a minority shareholder with your current holding if an investor purchased sufficient new shares in the Club to gain a controlling interest?

► Have any parties expressed an interest in investing in the club since the statement was made? While we appreciate there are sensitivities around declaring who these might be a confirmation of the number of interested parties would at least give the fans some idea if progress is likely to be made on the securing of investment. If anyone has expressed an interest do they meet the requirements laid out in your statement?

► What is the value of the loans and guarantees that any new investor would need to underwrite? Would the bank expect an investor to have the ability to pay these off in a single transaction?

► Are any of the current board members expressing an intention to invest in additional shares?

► Are your fellow board members also prepared to step down to secure investment if required?

► Can you confirm that you would be prepared to write-off personal loans, to the football club, or would the value of these loans be converted into an increased shareholding if new investment is secured?

► At last year’s AGM, Club assets only exceeded liabilities by less than £100K. With a projected loss of around £1M this year is the Club technically insolvent? If so what is maintaining our ongoing trading position?

► Are the Club’s bankers comfortable with the current financial position or is it pressure from the bank which has brought about the plea for investment?

► Will the fans be consulted before any new investment is agreed?

We hope you will feel disposed to respond to the questions above and we await your response with interest. We appreciate that the Moffat family has contributed much to maintaining the stature of Kilmarnock FC in recent years. However the fans are the lifeblood of clubs such as Kilmarnock FC and all we ask is to be kept informed and consulted when decisions are made that affect the future or wellbeing of the Club.

Yours Sincerely,

John B. Millar
Secretary
The Kilmarnock Supporters' Society Ltd
