Jamie
Moffat, the Kilmarnock chairman, yesterday appealed to supporters to
help boost the club's finances and prevent them from sliding towards
administration. Official Statement

Here are some press comment quotes that were not included in
yesterday press release.......
"It [administration] is something that the
board have to be conscious of but it is not an option that we consider
attractive,
and
it is exactly why we are doing what we are: to avoid that, Everything
the community and supporters can do to help us will prevent that
becoming an option. If we can get more and more support, it would make a
hell of a difference. Having failed to
find someone to take over my shareholding, we are really saying to the
fans that we need their support, It's their club, so please help us.
We're not looking for fans to give us a lot of money but, if every one
persuaded someone else to come to the game, or if they bought a meal or
a drink in the hotel or the sports bar, that would be of tremendous
benefit. We believe the squad, on the budget we set, should be able to
achieve the top six in the current marketplace That was discussed as
part of the annual plan and the management team are fully aware it's
very important to the club's future."
"Part of the issue is my having to finance the
club and a desire not to have to continue doing that," Moffat said.
"That's still a requirement and my accountants are involved in a really
serious attempt to get the club to break even. We've come a long way,
from losses of £2.4m to £1.4m and we'll be circa £1m for this year's
figures . . . unless we win the cup. We are producing a plan that
relates to all the facilities we have here and will work with the bank
to show them this is what we'll do. It's so I can draw a line in the
sand and know that I will not have to continue to fund Kilmarnock
Football Club. Kilmarnock have a £4.8m overdraft with the Bank of
Scotland due for review on February 28, by which point Moffat hopes to
have submitted a detailed plan to the financiers. Our overdraft position
is quite clear and we will be working within the facility the bank have
laid down. In common with a number of other clubs, the bank have said
they are happy with the current facility but that's it. We aim to be
back at the bank with detailed proposals at the end of February. There
is no pressure from them to come up with the plan in the next few days
or anything."
'Despite the financial cutbacks there
is huge optimism for the future. The emergence of players such as Kris
Boyd, Stephen Murray and Steven Naismith are testimony to the investment
we have committed to youth development.'
