Saints Brought Down To Earth By Blues
FC
Killie Ladies 9 - 1 Paisley Saints FC Kilmarnock Ladies brushed their lower league Paisley counterparts aside and eased into the third round proper of the Scottish Cup. The players needed a boost after a disappointing result at home to rivals Newburgh in the league last week that saw the Ayrshire side drop to fifth place, although they do have a couple of games in hand.
The 9-1 win should go a long way towards restoring confidence, especially given that the consolation goal for Saints was for a penalty awarded against Burns for an accidental hand ball! Their were four goals for on-fire Jo Cooper, a brace for captain 'Smudger' Smith and one apiece for Burns and Kirsty and Bev McLaughlin.
Killie have now been drawn to face Hamilton away in the next round which turns out to be the only all-SWPL fixture drawn with the other big guns again facing lower league opposition. First though the Ladies must face a tough test against high-flying Glasgow City in a replayed league match on Wednesday night which is a real six pointer.
