Eight Goal Thriller Means Replay

Hamilton 4 - 4 FC Killie Ladies
(SWC3 - Stonehouse Jnrs, 19th March 2005, 14:00 Kick Off)

Sunday's game, tagged 'tie of the round' certainly lived up to its name! Killie played Hamilton at Stonehouse Juniors ground in the Scottish Cup 3rd round. This was the third attempt at getting the match played due to previous postponements, and now we will be re-playing again as the score line finished 4-4.

Kilmarnock were awarded a penalty inside the first minute of the game when Scotland International Jo Love was taken out inside the the penalty box by Hamilton keeper Claire Johnston. Jo converted the penalty herself to give Killie the early advantage.

However, another penalty was awarded on 35 minutes, this time
at the other end after killie keeper Emma Mills was deemed to have fouled Hamilton's striker. The penalty itself was saved by Mills but midfielder Hollie Thomson equalised through the re-bound.

Hamilton then took the lead two minutes later, again through Thomson, and made the half-time score 3-1 to the home side
after a Nicola Docherty goal on 39 minutes. Killie made changes to formation and personnel at half time and got a goal back
five minutes into the second half thanks to another Jo Love penalty.

Hamilton skipper Docherty scored again on 66 minutes to make the score 4-2 with only 24 minutes to go. Half-time substitute Bev McLaughlin got on to the end of a great cross from the right to make it 4-3 on 69 minutes and ensure a tense finish to
the game.

With only eight minutes to go Jenny Davies, recently called up to the Scotland U-19s squad for the first time, made it 4-4. Killie kept up the pressure for the remainder of the game but now face even more fixture congestion with league and cup games piling up. This tie will be replayed next Sunday, 26th of March at either Stonehouse Juniors or Lesmahagow.

FC Kilmarnock Ladies Team: Mills, Smith (C), Burns, Fowler, Quinn, McDonald, Love K.McLaughlin, Stokes (B.McLaughlin 45), Docherty, Cooper (Davies 65).
Subs (Unused): Forsyth, Woods, Torrance.
