Jim Jefferies got it right yesterday, down 0-1 at
the half, he juggled the teams formation replacing defender David Lilley
at the half with Danny Invincibile, who played a midfield type role!.
Twice trailing Killie fought back to earn a valuable point. Killie had
to wait until after the split last term to notch a result (the 1-1 draw
at Tannadice), when trailing at the half! So lots of positiv
es
can be taken from this spirited performance, at Inverness as Killie
extended their unbeaten run to 3 games!
Kilmarnock suffered a blow after seven minutes when in-form
striker Steven Naismith had to be substituted due to an injury.
Ten minutes later Kilmarnock found themselves in further trouble when
Gary Hay conceded a penalty-kick after he inexplicably decided to handle
the ball in the box.
Tokely placed the ball low to Combe's left hand side, but the Killie
goalkeeper produced a fantastic save and pushed the ball away.
Caley then tested Combe with powerful strikes from Liam Fox and Ian
Black.
Inverness were bossing the match and it was no surprise when they
took the lead.
Tokely made up for his earlier blunder when he found Brewster with a
deep cross. The 38-year-old beat his marker Ford to the ball and rolled
in his third goal of the season.
Kilmarnock switched to a flat back four at half-time bringing Danny
Invincibile on in the place of David Lilley and that paid dividends when
they drew level.
Substitute
Colin Nish blasted the ball high into
the net after Invincible had picked out the striker at the back post.
Brewster immediately decided to make a substitution as he brought
loan-signing from Hearts Dennis Wyness into the fray.
The striker immediately made his mark on the game when he set-up
Brewster to fire Caley into the lead once again.
After a neat one-two between the two men, Brewster blasted a 20 yard
shot past the helpless Combe.
That
was not the end of the goal scoring action and
in amazing turn of events Killie drew level for the second time a mere
60 seconds later.
Hay made up for his earlier error when he found
Kris Boyd with a fine cross.
The Killie striker netted his third goal of the season, comfortably
heading past Mark Brown from six yards.
Five minutes from time, Black had the chance to win the game for
Caley, but his ferocious drive across goal was well saved by Combe.

Play was then sadly interrupted while Black was forced to leave the
field on a stretcher, Russell Duncan coming on in the stricken
midfielder's place. As the seagulls swooped, the referee finally blew
his whistle. Cheers broke out from all corners of the ground, saying
everything about an entertaining afternoon on which there were no
losers, both Inverness and Kilmarnock consolidating their decent starts
to the season.
