After many weeks of Ibrox
speculation, Killie striker Kris Boyd went public, after a 2 goal (& 2
assists) performance, against Aberdeen, with his thoughts on a move to
his boyhood team.......
"If Rangers want me, they should come and get me - it's up to them.
"At the moment I have a job to do for Kilmarnock and
that's all I'm thinking about. There's no way I'd cheat anyone at this
club. It's in your mind that you might be moving at some stage but I
don't have to blank it out before every game.
"I just do what I get paid to do, score goals. It was a
good day for me today and I'm delighted.
"I went through a spell without a goal and I needed one
badly. Thankfully they went in today and we could have had more in the
end."
Danny Invincibile on Boyd being missed -
Here
Killie
boss Jim Jefferies heaped praise on his star frontman and
said.....
"As I've said, the two-year extension offer is still on the table from
us But if his goals right now get us a bigger fee when he goes, then
fine.
"Boydie was brilliant and his first goal was an
instinctive finish and that's what he's good at.
"He followed up his own shot for his second which was
another instinctive shot. He's at his best when he doesn't have time to
think."
When Jimmy Calderwood was delivering his post-match post-mortem, he
hadn't noticed his destroyer Boyd slipping into the press room.
Calderwood had previously coveted Boyd but has been unable to acquire
his services. "Sorry Kris, I never saw you there," said the
Aberdeen manager after commenting on Boyd's decisive influence in the
game. Having now clocked Boyd, Calderwood added tongue-in-cheek: "Kris
Boyd?..... I thought he was crap today."
He had been anything but.
