Two in a Row For Reserves Kilmarnock
4 - 2 Inverness CT Rugby Park is the place for goals this season as the second string repeated the four goal blast of the first team. The game was open from kick off and within two minutes Keogh had a pop from 30 yards that was easily held by Smith. Killie should have gone in front after 8 minutes but Wales fired wide when it looked easier to score. The game flowed from end to end and it was the visitors who broke the deadlock in 14 minutes. A good Morgan run ended with a pass wide to Keogh. His cross was not dealt with and it landed at the feet of Morgan who fired home low from 16 yards. Killie were level eight minutes later although there was a touch of controversy about the goal. Murray raced to the bye line and back heeled the ball to keep it in play. The visitors claimed the ball had gone over the line but the linesman kept his flag down. Murray swung over a cross and Wales was on hand to head home off the inside of the post. Killie took the lead with only a minute of the first half remaining. Di Giacomo fed Campbell who shook off a challenge before firing home from inside the box. Killie extended the lead on 50 minutes when a Campbell cross was met by Di Giacomo and he slid home from close range. The game was still wide open and Prunty pulled a goal back in 56 minutes when he strode through a static defence and slid the ball under Smith. The visitors went looking for the equaliser and came close on three occasions. Smith saved well from Prunty before Sutherland and Hislop saw shots go agonisingly wide. Killie wrapped up the points nine minutes from
time with the goal of the game. We were awarded a free kick 30 yards out
and Leven curled a beauty into the top corner. Good performances by both
teams with Wild and Murray doing well for Killie whilst Duncan caught the
eye for Thistle. Match Reporter: Sandy Armour |
