Player Profile: Gary Wales
Full Name: Gary Wales
Nickname: Walsey
Squad No: 10
Position: Forward/Striker
Date of Birth: 4th January 1979
Birth Place: East Calder
Height: 5ft 10ins
Former Clubs: Hamilton, Hearts,
Walsall (loan), Gillingham
Signed for Killie: 10th July
2004
Contract Ends:
May 2007
Notes:
Gary left Hamilton in 1999 to join
Jim Jefferies at Hearts with £50,000 going in the opposite
direction. He spent just over four years at Tynecastle making over
100 appearances
and scoring 11 goals, hence we see him more as a
forward than a striker. He was freed by Hearts after a loan spell at
Walsall and went down south to Gillingham but never settled and
stayed there only four months. When Gary McSwegan opted for a longer
contract at Ross County in the summer of 2004 Jefferies offered
Wales the chance to move back north as a replacement which of course
he accepted.
Gary can best be described as a decent squad player who
has a good engine (©Killie
Hippo) and puts in a good
shift whenever he plays. While not an out
and out striker he can be relied upon to be there and there abouts
when the team is attacking, looking to get in among the goals.
