Notes:
Wee Ruby never made the grade at
Parkhead apparently because of his size...obviously they've forgot
about Jinky Johnstone then! Since his introduction to the first team
by Bobby Williamson, the wee man's tricks and turns have entertained
the
crowds and he's fast become a fan's favourite at Rugby Park.
However, despite what they say, size does matter, and to make it in
the top
division of any league will never be easy for someone who is
'vertically challenged' and they have to have other talents to make
up for their lack in height...and Stevie has talent in spades. There
is always a danger these days of a nippy winger becoming a one
season wonder because once defenders suss what you are going to do
then they will be ready for you the next time. Fortunately Ruby is
not a one trick pony and as long as he keeps adding new dimensions
to his game then he'll prove an asset to the club and give our 442
formation a better shape. Not the fastest in the world but if you
could convert heart into inches then Stevie would be the tallest
player at Killie. Very one sided but links up well with Garry Hay
down the left flank.
UPDATE
Jan 2007: With no 2006-07 first team starts for Killie, Stevie
has been loaned out to Queen of the South for the remainder of the
season.
With Stevie's contract "up" he could very well have played his last
game for Killie. Ruby made his Queens debut on Jan 27th, in a 4-3
home win over the Jags and was named "Man of the Match". |
