Alan Combe
Killie's 32-year-old goalkeeper is one of the most senior members of the
squad at Rugby Park and says he is always willing to offer advice to
their young stars....
"But it's not
always horrible stuff I say, I'm positive as well. I'm the second-o
ldest
player at the club, I have only got Allan Johnston ahead of me. The
thing is we have been playing together for a couple of years, the gaffer
has brought us through as a team. They have learned a lot over the last
couple of years so there is a lot of pressure on them to go out and do
as well as they did last year. We have got to take it on board and help
them through it. I think the gaffer has looked at the fact the boys have
done so well and we have not really lost anybody and hopefully we can do
well again this year, lot of it is to do with the contribution of the
team but if you play the same guys every week you're going to get better
consistency and hopefully that is what will happen again. We have got to
raise it again and do better than we did last year."
"It's going to be
very hard. Sometime you look very hard to strengthen - and I know
there's a couple of trialists in - but if the gaffer's happy with what
he's got we're happy as well. If you get off to a good start, it is not
the be-all
and
end-all, but it bodes well for the rest of the season because every team
is trying to catch you up. If we can get an early start on the teams
which are roughly classed as the same as us then it's better."
