Aug 13th.. Craig Bryson
insists he wants to remain at Rugby Park – despite interest from SPL
rivals Hamilton Accies.
The 22-year-old from Westwood has been the subject of transfer
speculation during the last week, but the midfielder believes his
future remains with Killie.
Hamilton are reported to have offered £100,000 for the former Clyde
man, but that was rejected by the club and it doesn’t look like
Bryson’s going anywhere.
“I’m really happy at Kilmarnock and until Hamilton get an offer
accepted by the club I’m not even going to think about going
elsewhere. I’m concentrating on things at Kilmarnock. I want to stay
here and I really don’t think moving to Hamilton would be a good
move for me at this stage of my career. Obviously, you want to get
off to a good start and playing at home we will want to get the
three points and get up and running. If we play well I’m sure we can
get a result, but we know Hamilton will be a tough team to beat. We
played them three times lI felt we really underachieved last year,
We started really well, won three of our first four games and got a
few points on the board early on. But then we were involved in a
relegation battle – and we don’t want that again.
“We’ve managed to hang onto our big players during pre-season and if
you look around the league a lot of teams have lost some of their
key players, so that gives us a boost going into the league games.
“Mark Burchill has come in for us and he looks really good in
training. I think he’s going to be the perfect partner for big Kevin
Kyle so hopefully the two of them get a lot of goals for us this
season.”
May 2nd..."I
didn't know I'd broken it at the time. I just went up to head the
ball back into the box, then I felt blood streaming down. There
wasn't any pain at first and it wasn't until I ran to the touchline
to have the blood wiped away that Alex, our physio, told me I had
broken my nose and that I'd need to come off. It was quite squint,
but the doctor put it back in place right there and then and it
doesn't look too bad. I've just been working on the bike rather than
training with the rest of the lads. There's a risk it could go again
if I get hit, but I'm just hoping I can get through our last two
games. Everyone wants to play at the moment. The club's not in the
best position and the stakes are high. We all want to do our bit to
get us out of this and I'm no different. I hope we can go there and
keep their fans quiet, but we haven't been the best away from home.
Everyone keeps bringing up the fact we've only scored four goals on
the road - and I've got two of them! We need to make the journey up
there believing we can win the game and, hopefully, St Johnstone do
us a favour at Falkirk as well. If we can get three points we can
possibly be okay after the game against Falkirk at Rugby Park on
Saturday. Obviously, confidence is a bit low when you're losing
games, but we can still stay in this league. This is as tense a
period as I can remember at the club.”
