Nov 27th on the Rangers
Pre-Match..."They
have more money and bigger
crowds and, along with
Celtic, are the biggest team
in Scotland. So if we played
them 10 times and didn't win
then that's only normal.
However, we showed at home
to Celtic we can still have
a chance. If we turn in a
good performance and have a
little bit of luck anything
is possible. St Johnstone
and St Mirren have taken
points from Rangers at Ibrox,
after all. That gives
everyone else the feeling
they have a chance. It's
been so long since we beat
them at Rugby Park, this
would be a nice time to make
some history."
Oct 14th on the Celtic
Pre-Match...
"At home we have a good
chance against every team
but we need it to be a good
day for us to beat them or
even draw with them. Against
Rangers and Celtic, you also
need a bit of luck. The
first thing we have to do is
play with good organisation
and work hard and then you
can see if there are chances
in the game to get a good
result. Normally, at the
start of the season, you
would say a result against
Rangers or Celtic is a bonus
because they are the two big
teams in Scotland. But, over
the last few weeks, we have
dropped some points against
teams who we needed the
points from. So this is a
good opportunity for us, if
we get a good result against
Celtic, we take back the
points we lost in the last
few weeks. Teams like
Motherwell and Dundee United
also want to be there and
with Rangers, Celtic and
probably Hearts already
there, there are only three
places for the rest of us.
We have to prove to that we
have enough quality to
finish in the top six.
I'm in the squad and I
trained last week for the
first time since my injury,
as well as this week, so
hopefully it's enough for me
to play on Saturday. It's
been very frustrating for
me. We had a good start to
the season but in the last
few weeks we have not had
good results and it's really
frustrating if you are in
the stand with an injury.
You have to show your
qualities in training and
also when you get the chance
in games."
July 1st 2011....
Kilmarnock have signed
former Feyenoord and Den
Haag midfielder Danny Buijs
on a one-year deal.
Beginning his career at Feyenoord, Buijs spent three years on loan at Excelsior before joining Groningen. After a return to Feyenoord, the Dutchman joined Den Haag and was linked with Derby before signing on at Killie.
Killie boss Shiels said ......."He's got great attributes to bring to the table, he's strong, committed and is a hard worker for the team, He was captain of ADO Den Haag who have just qualified for the Europa League from the Eredivisie in Holland and had three years at Feynoord. We're really glad to get him on board and it's testament to how well we've done that players of that calibre are attracted to come to Kilmarnock Football Club."
Buijs claims former Feyenoord team-mates and Old Firm players Pierre van Hooijdonk, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Mols sold him on a move to Scotland.
"They were very positive about Scotland and this summer I had the opportunity to come here with Kilmarnock and had two options in England, And three weeks ago I was invited by Kilmarnock which was a great meeting and that's the reason I made my choice. I hope everyone at the club is positive about me and that we as a team can play in the top six. The guys who told me about Scottish Football are not only positive about the actual football but also about the people and living here which is important as I come here with my family."
