The Killie Trust
(Kilmarnock Supporters Society) has announced the second year of their
community bursary scheme by making £2,000 available to local charities,
community groups and other not-for-profit organisations. The football
trust is inviting local organisations to apply for a share of the fund
to support local community development initiatives and charitable
projects in the Kilmarnock area.
This is the second year that The Killie Trust has run the bursary to
assist with invaluable work being carried out in the community and last
year they helped 14 good causes in the local area. The Trust received
applications from a wide range of groups and the money helped purchase
much needed equipment, staff support and organised days out for groups
including 2nd Hurlford Brownies, 21st Ay rshire Cub Scout Group,
Northwest Youth Project, New Farm Loch @ 40, Bellfield Royals 1999's and
Fenwick Pre 5's.
The bursary is open to any non-profitable group or individual in the
Kilmarnock area working for the better of the community; from local
football teams, to youth groups and volunteer groups.
The Killie Trust
has already played a massive part in saving the youth development system
at Kilmarnock Football Club, however their aim is to invest not only in
the club but also in the local community. The establishment of the
community bursary was designed to contribute towards helping the many
worthwhile causes and groups in the local area.
Barry Richmond, Chairman of The Killie Trust, said: "We’re thrilled
to be able to offer the community bursary again this year as there are
so many worthy projects in our local community that could benefit from
the funding to help pay for materials and services that they might
otherwise be unable to afford."

"The common
perception among fans is that we are no more than a vehicle to generate
funds for youth development, but nothing could be further from the
truth. We are undertaking many initiatives as well as ‘Fifty for the
Future’ and our Community Bursary should illustrate the Trust’s ability
to benefit not only the club but the community as a whole."
"We’re looking forward to hearing from the local community on how our
funding could help make a difference to their organisation. We want to
encourage as many people as possible to apply; it’s our aim to help as
many groups in the local area as possible."
Anyone wishing to apply on behalf of a local charity or community group
for a share of the community bursary should email or send a letter
outlining the amount requested, details of the group and what the money
will be used for.
