Killie Team
News... Danny Invincibile could
make a return against Ayr on Saturday after missing the Falkirk game
because of an ankle knock picked up on the training pitch. The
Aussie started training again on Monday and will be keen to start
against Killie’s county rivals. Fellow midfielder Mehdi Taouil is
more of a doubt. He failed a late fitness test for the Falkirk game
and it will be later in the week before a decision is made on him.
While Alan Combe is eligible to play against Ayr, he will be
suspended again for next Tuesday’s match against Aberdeen. This
might influence Jefferies decision to play him on Saturday and
continue with Damien Rascle between the sticks

Pre-Match Comments
....
"“It’s a great tie for the
fans, and since the draw was made I’ve been made very much aware of
how important it is to win this game. As well as the financial
benefits of making it through to the next round, I’m very much aware
of what the game means to Kilmarnock supporters. I can assure the
fans that the players will be up for the game.”

Hay's Pre-Match Comments
....
"Derbies are all about
the fans," said Hay. "It's their big day, the chance to claim
bragging rights over their closest neighbours and because we don't
play each other too often this one is even more special for the fans
as they've been making it clear in the build-up. They've had ten
years of being reminded about the penalty and everything so our fans
are demanding nothing less than a win. But it will not be
easy; A*r are flying at the top of their league but
we are two divisions higher so we are expected to win. We have
to play to our strengths, our full-time fitness could be a key," Hay
added. "We are not as far up the league as we would wish to be but I
feel overall we've more often played well than badly this season.
Also, we've got some big occasion players such as David Fernandez
and this will be a big occasion, a packed Somerset Park. Obviously
the league remains our priority but a good cup run could be the
launch-pad for the rest of the season so we are looking for a
victory on Saturday to take that on towards the end of the
campaign."
