  1. Jackson Irvine was a young raw talent while at Killie, never in the same class as Ajer. Ceptic sent him to us to develop him and we did. He was sent to Ross County to develop further and he did, but still not enough to get a sniff at the Ceptic 1st team, so they sold him (and I think they were lucky to get a fee). He continued to develop and got a decent move to the championship where he has developed more. As with all youngsters, he had potential and is well on his way to fulfilling it however it has been Ceptic who has lost out, not us.

  6. Naismith is quite well known for his contributions to charities so perhaps he would consider re-joining us on that basis.

  8. Just been voted Burton's player of the year. Guess that proves how bad we were at that time by not getting more out of a guy who's turned out to be a reasonable player.

  9. He played in CM for us loads of times and fans hounded him. I can actually remember folk going off their dinger when he got the ball. It's a shame.

  10. It costs four times as much doing it under PFI rather than a bond issue Zorro, £70.5b v £17.4b! You or I, (if we could get a mortgage for £12.2bn) could have done it for 1/3 the cost of PFI! At the time, Labour had a huge majority under Blair, so perhaps there wasn't the parliamentary scrutiny there should have been. Devolved administrations were also in their infancy, so not yet up to speed. I'd say theres a high possibility of backhanders here, who owns shares or runs these PFI firms?!

  11. I read an interesting and sussinct critique of the PFI method of funding from the English democrats. https://stemorris.com/2017/01/10/labour-and-andy-burnhams-great-pfi-swindle/

  12. He was played out of position for most of the games he played for the mighty Killie and the fans hounded him. His best games came when he was played in the middle of the park - funnily enough! We only saw what he was capable of in the last few games of that season. Wasted!

  13. I wonder if Irvine was the reason Celtic dictated where Ajer plays in this loan deal. AJ had him playing RB, CB, all across the midfield and in behind a striker. The boy was clearly a CM and that is where everyone else has benefitted from playing him. It was at times as if we just had to accommodate him in the team.

  15. Can't see him anywhere near Killie in the near future but would be good to see him back in the stripes towards the end of his career.

  18. At 30 years old he'll be nowhere near RP anytime soon. 1) He's far too good for us 2) He's on £50k a week at Norwich!

  20. Do you remember the rumours at the time that he was only in the team so that we didn't have to pay his £15,000 a week wages?

  22. The worry is next year we are left hanging about waiting. Plenty of times in the past we've seen players come up and have successful loan spells and the Scottish club want to extend it. They are then left hanging around until the parent club make up their mind. It happened to Aberdeen last season with the goalkeeper from Liverpool when they wanted to extend the deal for the second half of the season and again this season with Maddison. We have to make sure we don't get caught out.

  24. where the sponsor on the front weighed more than the actual top, made of the plastic/rubber type material that had its own internal padding, one of the most vivid memories as a boy is that sponsor on my much loved tops

  25. in the same manner that most people would be delighted to see Ajer return on loan for next season and for the same reasons, i would be very happy to see Woodman return next season

  28. He's been really good ---- I'm a Jaimie McDonald fan ---- but as we know we have to play Freddie but that's good because he is a superb keeper--- sadly he will not be with us next season --- neither will Jamie ---- then we have a problem

  29. I stand by my comments. He was nervy and no way were his first few performances better than McDonald's. He cost us two points against Dundee, a point against Motherwell and while I accept Addison should have cleared against Aberdeen, a better keeper would have came and collected. The past few games he has been solid and has made some good saves. That's his job and he is now doing it well.
