I think we really need a dose of realism on here. I can understand fans are pleased with his appointment and I am delighted Steve Clarke has been given job, I also think he will do good things if fans can be patient and give him time. BUT. . . He has never won anything as a manager, has only ever managed 2 clubs both for short spells and he was dismissed from both posts (arguably unfairly, certainly IMO unfairly) but these are still the facts. So how when you look at those facts can he be included in the category as best kilmarnock manager ever is ludicrous ( he may well go on to become a kilmarnock legend) but the reality is it was Jose Mourinho that managed Chelsea to those trophies during that period, not Clarke. can I just reiterate. . . a fantastic appointment on paper and I'm delighted with it. but that's all it is. Steve Clarke has achieved amazing things as an assistant manger in the modern game. but the irony surrounding all this hyperbole is that had we appointed Jim McIntyre instead. He would have been (on paper) a more successful manager than Steve Clarke having, as manager, won a national trophy. I suggest we quietly enjoy our optimism without heaping enormous pressure on the poor man before he has even managed us for one match.8 points

It wouldn't cost for every school to get free home tickets for every match. Get the school to sort with parents etc through PTA to have adults accompany the kids. Killie only need to supply tickets for all Ayrshire schools and have them in the Moffat stand. Kids get a snack, programme and a wee scarf at the games and this should be something every provincial club in Scotland should be doing to engage young fans. I know Accies do it... why not us??5 points

While I am excited as everyone else Clark hasn't even had one game in charge. Hopefully he will be a success but comparing him to other managers is ridiculous at present. And it has to be Waddell - took a non city team to the league title. Imagine that happening again???5 points

Willie Waddell To do what he did in winning the title is the closest Scottish football has, and will ever have, in achieving what Leicester did down south.4 points

For me, Paul McDonald is the greatest. It's difficult to argue against a 100% record.4 points

How much would it cost - at manufacturer's prices - to give each seven year-old in East Ayrshire a home top? Could a sponsor underwrite the cost? It seems a great idea to get the club's identity embedded in the community again. We all recognise that the support is ageing and something dramatic is needed to turn that around.3 points

It certainly doesn't cost anything for players to visit local schools. That alone can make a huge impact on young kids.2 points

Please don't start with this kind of negative pish again. Without those prepared to put the club ahead of their own viewing pleasure and take a NAPM stance Billy Bowie wouldn't even be at Rugby Park so everything that followed probably wouldn't have happened either. Can you not just be happy instead of all this I told you so crap? You were wrong then and you are still wrong now, the vast majority of people who gave up were long before NAPM, that's part of the reason NAPM happened in the first place ya dumplin!2 points

That is complete and utter nonsense. For starters, I could name fans of several clubs down south who come and watch us. For starters there were 12 West Ham fans with us on Saturday for Thistle! Why do BT need to slag Scottish football when there's folk like you that are happy enough to do it? Guys in our Manchester office will watch Killie when they are on TV as they know I'm an avid fan, I don't think that's uncommon. To say no English folk watch football up here that doesn't involve the old filth is nonsense.2 points

Still can't get our heads around this...the KFCSA's David talk to our new manager Steve Clark. Nice.1 point

A good PR stunt would be to go round schools at xmas with goodie bags (including a shirt if poss). I know they do it at the children's ward at crosshouse, but how good would a kid feel getting a goodie bag from a pro footballer at xmas?1 point

To be fair to the club they do engage with schools in exactly this way, although not every game. PD'G is very supportive. As my school is for ASN pupils all the kids who take tickets have adults accompanying them to the game. As a result of this club interaction more than half of our pupils who have a football interest support their local team. (And we're working on the rest!)1 point

Easy to give away kid freebies when you get £200 million tv money + money for being in EPL, good idea though but not really a goer with our budget1 point

CB has beaten me to it but adult shirts cost around £5 to manufacture. Other costs are profit, distribution, marketing and VAT (children's clothing exempt?). Parents complain about the cost of replica kits - give them a top and they only have to worry about the rest of the kit, if they bother. JAMs will love that the kid has a shirt they will wear all summer long (when it's not in the wash!). Pens and pencils wouldn't have any impact, imo.1 point

You know I was going to post about this last night. I was a bit annoyed that he said it was more of the same training as: A) we've not looked match fit this year B) training to me looked amateurish under LM C) we've now got one of English football's widely accepted top first team coaches and I expected big changes However I agree with your point. To say it's a huge lift in intensity and variation would be a kick in the stones to Lee. Also, Jamie is a keeper and his training shouldn't change too much. Perhaps had an outfield player been interviewed there may have been a different message.1 point

See, for me, this is a fantastic idea. A wonderful idea to engage younger fans.1 point

To put WW out of sight, we were runners up four times out of five, before he won the league. Nothing short of staggering. No one will ever come close.1 point

I agree. While it seems like a great appointment and God knows it's great for the first time in ages to have something to get excited about I think we need to reign in the expectations a bit. . on the evidence of what we've seen so far this season we don't have a great squad of players. Avoiding the play-offs will do for me this year and Clarke can build his own team and be judged on next season.1 point

Me too, and I'm surprised you don't include Malky MacDonald who, in his first spell, laid the foundations which Waddell built on and, in his second, took the club to the semi-final of a European tournament. He didn't win a trophy but he's worth a mention in dispatches, I think.1 point

I have followed Killie for well over 50 years.so if you are setting a poll I'd suggest: the Willie Waddel,Tommy Burns, Kenny Shiels, Boaby Williamson1 point

He was maybe raging at the end because of the "Ayrshire Huns are unacceptable" chant directed at Gordon Sawyers!1 point

If it's the usual 3300 to 3700 it will be a real slap in the face to Billy Bowie and f ck knows what Stevie and Alex will think. I think you might be surprised by the crowd. I'm hoping and believe we are about to enter a far more positive era for Kilmarnock Football Club.1 point

The new system offers automatic renewal, once you've signed up you don't have to worry about renewing the following year. We have 1,347 shareholders and 462 active members though, so there are still plenty of fans who could be renewing or signing up to the new system for the first time. We've lost a lot of people down the years due to various reasons, that shouldn't really happen much now...although we've been flagged by GoCardless that a few new members have signed up and then subsequently cancelled the 'instruction' a month or two later, which means they are still active but it won't renew automatically next year. We think that could be down to people (and/or their spouses) going through their online banking and clearing out direct debits that they are not sure about. We had one guy who did exactly that and contacted us as soon as he realised what he'd done - its not a huge problem though, their details are still on the system, if they sign up again at any point we will sort it out for them and they'll retain their original share. We've almost trebled active Trust membership since we've changed to the new system and currently have more active members than at any point in our history, but we still need to grow the numbers more.1 point

Will we be begging teams to swap fixtures in November? If we relay the pitch, I'd be confident we'd have it done for the league season starting. Perhaps ask for an away fixture to start at most. Hearts said they'd be ready start of September. We swapped fixtures in good faith thinking we'd be away to them in November. It now looks like that deadline will be missed. They now have 8 home games in a row, do you think that is a good thing for the league? We've also got Killie fans (and probably Hearts fans) who've booked time off for this game/made travel plans/booked hotels (plenty Killie fans have) for a fixture that is now in doubt. If Hearts had been honest at the outset then folk might not moan but there was no way on earth they were meeting the original deadline. The seat excuse doesn't wash either. They are still put parts of the concourse/roof up! But you carry on moaning about folk quite reasonably having a moan about the shambles. We managed to rebuild a stadium without moving games from RP!!1 point

There will be plenty of decent players out there. It’s worth remembering things have changed now. Playing for Steve Clarke is more than likely a more attractive prospect than playing for Lee McCulloch. This far down the line with no offer guys who were out of our price range may be more relaxed with their demands.1 point

Would be very surprised if Clarke was able to bring in a player worth signing who still hasn't found a club 3 months into the season.1 point

Sadly, I don't think we'll get 5000. Hope I'm wrong. NAPM gave people " permission " to give up, as I warned at the time.0 points

Just wait until we rip up our carpet of a pitch and replace it with good old-fashioned grass. All the folk moaning on here about being inconvenienced with the Hearts situation will then be defending Kilmarnock’s inability to have a pitch ready for the agreed deadline. If Hearts’ ground isn’t ready for our game in November, there’s not a whole lot anyone on here can do about it. A good moan is a good moan, but wait until the boot is on the other foot. We’ll be begging teams to swap/delay fixtures in the next year or so.-1 points

The only footballing stories people are even mildly curious about outside Scotland are about the Infirm. 60 million people live south of the order, I don't know how many have access to BT Sport but of these you'd have to dig deep to find anybody willing to waste their time on this earth watching Scottish football. If you did unearth such a gem then it would almost certainly be only an interest in the Twisted Sisters. BT Sport need interest to sell subscriptions. They need to get viewing figures to sell advertising. Their mission in life is to make money for their shareholders not to pomote Scottish football.-1 points

Aye but WW earned that success and pedigree as a coach at KIllie. SC on paper, would be a better appointment in terms of qualifications to manage the team - before they'd managed THE team.-1 points
