This apathetic attitude to international football these days really gets on my tits. We’re scottish and killie fans. I don’t believe that you get to switch your fandom or supportership on and off. I think a lot of it has to do with how the sfa is run, the weird callups and ultimately the lack of success that has dampened fans love of their country. It’s a malaise that even afflicts England. But as with the posters above I cannot stand this 10 day stretch. Get the games played on a Wednesday and Saturday or at worst Wednesday/Thursday and Saturday/Sunday. It’s all about money and the thousands of channels who want their slice of pie. Plus, having to pay (hahah)for sky to see Scotland while they put f**k all into Scottish football whilst being able to watch England on free to air channel is an absolute piss take. So in summary, it would appear i hate international football!? I have quite a vivid memory of us qualifying for italia 90, me and Dad we’re behind the goals and when the whistle went, the place went mental, and some guy pulled my hat off my head and threw it in the air never to be seen again. I’ve just checked wiki, turns out it was 10 days after my 8th birthday. 4 days short of 28 years ago, holy f**k. Do you not remember the pride in our wee nation, kicking off France 98 against the giants of Brazil?? Being s**te is not an excuse to lose interest in your national team8 points

No, during international week, this forum takes a break from all things Killie. This week's guest topic is corporate finance.7 points

What's your opinion on 26 Labour frontbenchers appearing on the channel and taking the rouble since 2015? What about senior Conservatives declaring ££thousands in the Commons register for appearing on it too? Nothing! Nada! Zilcho! But wait... an exSNP MP appears and fake outrage ensues! Politicians of all hues will use any broadcast channel to get their message out there, doesn't mean they're promoting the views of the owners ...as the channel makes perfectly clear before a lot of programmes. Take a break from yersel wee man.4 points

When you can print concert tickets at home free of charge, you should be able to do the same for football matches. None of this phoning the club and having to pay the Royal Mail's extortionate postage rates. Edit - or even having to go to the club shop.4 points

Been in the SSC since I can remember, still think about my first trip to Hampden with the auld fella. I'll take the wean to watch Killie when he's older, but that first trip to Hampden with him (assuming we are still there) is one I really look forward to. Probably more sentimental than anything else.4 points

Not sure why it's a contest , both should complement each other , if arranged properly and as been to a fair few trips to some memorable summer tournaments it's a great event to witness and be part of ( even if your team goes out early) Isn't this near enough the last run of friendly games before this new strange nations cup format next year? not too keen on way now these international games are spread over a "weekend" used to enjoy when a few games were on back to back on a Saturday4 points

Don't know if you are like me but I really can't be bothered with the national team. International weekends are rotten.the pundits constantly go over the same points over and over again. Possibly if Scotland were in a world cup I'd shown more interest and I do watch the qualifiers. Would follow Killie over Scotland any day of the week. Maybe because we've had moments like the league cup final and Scottish cup wins. Certainly a better feeling after we beat Hearts at the weekend than when Scotland scored again Slovakia!3 points

Club everyday but like many killie fans I follow Scotland all over. Neither effect each other so it's a daft question. I'd rather watch Scotland than some daft English team. Nothing worse than Scottish folk calling each other Scouse/Manc bastards etc.3 points

Agree with some of this, but not the bit about pre-qualifications for supposed small countries..........that's what the TV companies etc want, bin the small countries and get max interest and revenue out of Germany, Italy, France etc.....we (Scotland) would never see a finals by your logic.....or get any supposed glamour quali ties against the likes of Germany etc..... The overall move to squeeze out small countries would be like the shameful situation where most countries rarely get a look in in the champions league, having up to 5 clubs from some bigger countries is abysmal, there'll never be a team from a smaller country winning that ever again...... This mindset is what is leading to the elitist view that the lower leagues here should be regionalised, no one should be on Alan Prestons pathetic bandwagon on this, there should be two leagues with 16 & 24, or 18 & 22 or whatever. Give smaller teams a chance and also their talent pool.....give the sport back to the fans....3 points

I don't think it's just a Scottish and English issue - looking at other countries' attendances for World Cup and Euro qualifiers, many are poor. There are too many "small" countries involved in qualification leading to matches which are not meaningless but are likely to be one-sided. Kosovo, Gibraltar, Malta, Liechtenstein, Kazakhstan, Moldova, San Marino and Andorra combined won nine points and had a GD of about -250 from 80 World Cup qualifying matches. The next tier up of countries - the Baltic countries, Luxembourg, Georgia, Armenia etc - are a little better but not much. There needs to be some preliminary qualifying competition for these countries so that the qualification itself is much more competitive. There is too much football anyway with new club competitions being created to make (a little) money for clubs and to promote sponsors' names. The Checkatrade Trophy, for example, where the match between Grimsby Town and Sunderland Academy attracted 248 spectators in midweek. And too much football in general on TV. Supporters are saturated with and jaded by coverage of club football without being asked to stump up for an unglamorous international match, where the top players will often be withdrawn by their over-protective clubs.3 points

When I see things like Ryan Jack not getting a call up when he is with Aberdeen and playing well, but called up when with Rangers and playing s**te, I kind of want to kick the whole thing to f**k. We have also stood still for the past 20 years while everyone else has progressed, but we are too proud to change things. As the years go on, I drift more and more away from the national team, in terms of expectations anyway. Killie over them any day of the week3 points

It's mid November and he's scored 3 goals and 1 assist. I see a flaw in your argument.3 points

The BBC TV news presentation is squarely aimed at ****ing muppets, or those of "average" intelligence. Anyone with even half a brain, the internet or a working Sky remote would find it difficult to disagree. Hence why RT is derided, as the content is aimed at less stupid people than who the BBC broadcast too. Look at the demise of newsnight as a sensible program post Paxman for example, the BBC's TV output is significantly dumbed down compared to what you get on even BBC radio 5, never mind radio 4!2 points

"While the international break may signal a pause in action for Killie, there's been no rest for players making their way back from injury. Gary Dicker has returned to training with the first team following his pre-season injury with his progress being monitored carefully. Greg Kiltie has also started light training with the U20s squad. The attacker has made a good recovery after suffering a broken ankle in the final game of last season. Meanwhile Iain Wilson is continuing his rehabilitation programme after the knee injury picked up against Aberdeen in September. The talented teenager won't be back in action before the winter break in January."2 points

Up until now watching Killie lose then watching Scotland lose was just too much to take, also paying £40 for a decent view with no concessions for age put me off going. I was one of the three thousand odd at the home international v Northern Ireland, then 25,000 odd turned up at Wembley. I used to go regularly to Scotland games but over time the enthusiasm has worn off. Killie or Scotland ? Killie every time.2 points

I go to games every week, see same folk every week and I couldn't name one who do that. Each to their own though. Seems a bit weird to me. Like folk that keep a tally of how many games they've attended, I'm a virgin.2 points

Haven't Preston got their own forum? Can't blame this issue on the Dundee fans and the old cliche 2 wrongs don't make a right comes into play. Just because Dundee are treating our fans like s**t, we should not be doing the same to theirs. Scottish fitba needs to do everything it possibly can to encourage fans, home and away, especially when it doesn't concern the OF. Turning fans away isn't the answer. Hopefully the SLO and KFCSA can have a strong word and voice our complaints.2 points

He went up hugely in my estimation a few years ago . We’d both been playing golf in Nairn and he massively propositioned the very pretty barmaid . Disappointingly he tried to pretend it involved some “ dancing lessons “ for his aged missus . Still , it was a decent effort , so fair play .1 point

In my lifetime have hardly seen us qualify for any major championships . Been offered tickets to see Scotland a few times and never been enthused enough to accept them . I love following Killie the highs are amazing because the amount of lows we have endured in the past . It’s hard to connect with a team such as Scotland as most of the players are either Old Firm or players who have no real connection to Scottish football Phillips Anya Martin etc. I think my Dad’s era of Dalglish , Souness and players like that was our golden era. Qualifying regularly for tournaments and playing some nice football. Scotland have no identity for last four or five managers . A bit like Killie until recently they have been stagnating . No style of play or real star player produced like a Bale of Wales or Hamsik of Slovakia . We have a lot of similar players grafters. Our youth teams whether at club or international level go to tournaments allover Europe and do great till they hit about 18 years of age then the Germans and Spanish start to take over because technically we are not as good and before we could get away with being physical and steam rolling teams. We should be completely changing the SFA coaching its too mind numbing . Never any in game drills , we over rely on being able to battle physically and run and that . Good players don’t need to physically battle they will just make angles and move the ball around1 point

His face isn't familiar, I've been using the Ardrossan and Saltcoats bus on and off for 40 odd years, 10-15 of them getting on at Kilwinning. He may have changed looks wise over the years though.1 point

Internationals, in the same way as the champions league/europa are being ruined by the money men and biggest clubs who control everything. Bring back the days of Saturday/Wednesday for international fixtures. 32 teams at the World Cup, 16 at the Euros with sensible host nations. Sunday nights/Thursday nights and all the fixtures staggered is a big turn off for me. Can't get my head round the League of Nations stuff either.1 point

Hampdump is exactly that.....a dump. A revamp would be too expensive to do it properly as opposed to the crap job that was done the last time. You can't polish a turd and certainly not with those who are in charge at Hampdump. Murrayfield for me.1 point

After the Oystons were found guilty of asset stripping the football club, Blackpool fans must have been having a wry chuckle at the appointed referee for tomorrow's game against Portsmouth. His name? Ben Toner..... Fortunately, FA chiefs have recognised the spooky coincidence & replaced the man in black for this game. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/nov/10/referee-ben-toner-dropped-backpool-oystons1 point

As it happens, I'm not particularly fussed/offended/annoyed/upset at anyone making an appearance on RT. Are they any more misleading/corrupt than the UK msm? However lets pretend that I'm a bitter unionist with a tendency to support the Labour party. What do you think should upset me most?... 1) An out of work ex politician, hosting his own wee chat show as a tidy wee earner. or 2) Numerous currently elected labour MPs, receiving tidy sums of money in return for appearing on said "gangster regime controlled network" I'll leave this quote here from Salmond himself. In this day and age, it really is a shambles that the only place to buy a ticket for the game is at RP. Dundee away is one of the games I can get to really easily, but now that it's all ticket, I've got to pay a third of the ticket price to get it posted to me?! What a joke. Last week I bought a ticket here in Aberdeen for a La Liga game, printed it out, and it was scanned no bother at the stadium. An online purchase portal is not difficult to stick on to the website FFS1 point

I liked McCulloch too but I think you are over-estimating how much of a slaughtering he took. If anything the players took far more abuse than Lee did. Lee didn’t passionately want the job and that ended up shining through. He probably didn’t need the hassle for the money he was getting as is most likely a rich man. I felt bad for him but there is nothing wrong with saying he wasn’t the right man for the job, even if you originally thought he was (which I did). Hope this post doesn’t ruin your upcoming weekend.1 point
