  1. SSC has been in the door what 6 months ? In that time our home crowd is up by 800 for a pay at the gate match(Brora), and well over 1000(Hibs) for a televised game with early kick off. Those number show around a 30% increase at home in just 6 months, and people aren’t happy. Get a grip folks, these are decent increases, which we hope will continue. Oh and on the Away crowds, we had more at Easter Road than high flying Hibs brought yesterday. Our Away support is fanbloodytastic.

  2. I am a Killie fan living in Callander, used to travel home and away but lost my way over the last 15 years. I have been to two home games this season, first for a long time and would like to go to more. Are there any other Killie fans in the Stirling area who would consider joining up to share travelling expenses, I have a car and am willing to drive but to afford to go more often need someone to help towards fuel.

  3. Crowds are starting to come back, more slowly than you would have hoped given the results, style of football and quality of matches at RP in recent months. However, many, many fans drifted away over the last 5 or 6 years given the way the club was being run and the absolute rubbish that was being served up on the pitch. It will take time as you can almost miss a generation, the 9 and 10 year olds that would have been taken by their familes would now be coming to matches on their own. But I'm so bored by McLean's constant posts on this topic week after week - most people on these forums who are able to get to games do so - therefore what is the point of preaching to the converted? Far better to spend a few hours each day with a soap box or a sandwich board outside Burns Mall pontificating to those who don't attend.

  4. @Mclean07 why is it okay for you to say it’s nobodys business if you’re going to tynecastle/Pittodrie but your business when people aren’t going to rugby park? People can choose wether they go to a game of football or not, as you are proving. It’s a personal choice. To start slagging people for not being at games when they weren’t born. Holy f**k. The question that needs asked is. If you aren’t going to away games now. Were you at tynecastle in 65?? Probably not.

  5. While I have proven pretty resilient to abuse over the years, I am getting rather tired of your personal remarks about my family. Maybe something the moderators would want to consider. You're own lifestyle seems to consist of little other than football and drinking. You seem quite immature. I have a wide range of interests and my children and grandchildren. I don't embarrass them and I'm very proud of them and their own children. They've got good jobs and are good parents. Maybe you need to grow up a bit and realise there's more to life than the next booze sesh with the lads. At your age you might want to be moving towards the next stage. Please excuse my personal comments, but you've made plenty about me in recent times. Best wishes.

  6. 5 things I learned yesterday.......1.never come on to a forum and praise nl for a more balanced and mature outlook the day before a game, his actions yesterday make me look like a fanny...seems leapords don’t change spots 2. our midfield is even better than I realised. With the 3 non scots of mulumbu, power and dicker in the centre we really have someth8mg special. I’m a huge fan of mcginn but was he on the park second half? We totally outplayed the hibs trio 3. We need to ease up on jj. Those of you who question his value will notice the difference when he’s gone ( and he will be gone for a £1m fee in the summer). I can’t think of a better outlet in Scottish football right now. Ask any opposition fans who they fear and most will say jj. That goal yesterday was class. Yes, the curling finish bu5 the way he created the space in a tight Area was top class. Can’t even begin to think how we can directly replace him. 4. The squad mentality is incredible. We’d can5 control luck and we won’t always play well but having this strength of character will serve us well throughout the tough times. Amazing and completely down to the management team 5. I think the crowds are coming back. I think yesterday was decent in the circumstances of TV game. With the positive momentum an£ better weather ahead, I think we’ll see 6000 for a non old firm game by end of season. This would be a good baseline to build on for next season where summer signings and heightened ambition based on new nvstment can take us on. Good to be killie.

  7. After watching and listening to the respective managers behaviour today and post match interviews isnt it a source of very quiet satisfaction that we have a dignified professional manager like SSC and not an angry undignified and unprofessional chippy little prat like Neil Lennon. He is not fit to lace SSC's boots and todays antics just illustrate how lucky we are!!

  8. Would you allow him out to play and train with Killie?

  9. Issue 179 sold out yesterday, thanks to you all for your support. Issue 180 will be on sale at the next two home games v St Johnstone and Ross County.....cheers

  10. Under Steve Clarke our team all seem to be pulling in the same direction and have each others backs on the pitch isn't it time we fans should all be doing the same off it?
    4 points
  11. Agree. He has been fantastic in all but the Ayr game. I'd like to hold on to him for a couple of seasons.
    4 points
  12. Indeed. And remember that's hard cash. The regular season ticket holders have always been there enduring years of tripe on the park, but this will be PATG punters like me. If it's 800 increase at each home game the club could be making an additional £32k a month (best case scenario). Upwards of £180k potentially extra since Clarke came in until end of this season based purely on home attendance increases. Not to be sniffed at!

  13. Let’s put it simply. Every other team in the land would kill for a 30% increase in attendances in 6 months.

  14. Fed up arguing with my father in law about him who continually whines about him being too wee! Other teams apparently always pinpoint him with high diagonal balls that he can't deal with yet he can't give me an example of goals against us from it! He's been fantastic for us from day one & has been a level of maturity in his play way above his age, long may it continue. Also plays for the jersey even tho he's not from around here,I'd have 11 of him in the team any day of the week. Wee Greg Taylor...he's one of our own!!!

  15. He’s not a player I’d push the boat out to keep, but would be happy enough if he stayed. Perhaps working with Clarke for an extended period would smooth off some of those rough edges. His passing is embarrassing for a professional footballer at times.

  17. Don't you just love kicking poor Willie. Listening to the tiresome broadcaster on Radio Scotland on my way back from the game with Hibs, I was grateful I don't have to hear his inane drivel every Saturday. He seems to have a grudge against poor Killie no doubt due to his sacking after a match with us all those years ago. He argued against our penalty today on the grounds that as the shot was off target, it should not be given and then went on to query Lennon's dismissal for simply facing up the referee. Let's overlook his failure to grasp the most basic elements of the English language and assume he realises he's a bit thick, but his skill set which persuades the BBC to give him a prominent role in our national broadcasting system is far from obvious. He usually predicted relegation for us in each of the last 5 years or so. Poor Willie wrong again! The celebrations next week when we nullify his beloved Aberdeen will be concentrated on our ongoing cup run but the thought of his bleating face crying down the airwaves will be a very welcome additional bonus.

  18. It’s a fair question that deserves a considered response. My 2 bobs worth......I think the last few years have taken significant toll on the motivation level of the broader killie support ( the core will always be the core almost independent of what league we in and how we doing). It’s a little ironic to me that this apathy has come at a time of relative success for the club - 25 years in the top flight, both cups in the bag and a few trips into Europe. Not bad for a so called provincial club. Problem is we’ve been on a flat line and fans respond better to highs and lows than a flat line performance. Hibs and hearts support have benefited from a more unpredictable performance level in recent years. Personally I think the mj thing has been overplayed ( his legacy Is more complicated than some would suggest) but no doubt laterly he has been a net negative influence on the club and was right that he moved on. I think under sc we will take a significant leap forward in performance and ambition and the fans will continue to respond. It’s not same old, same old. Something new is happening, something like the early days of fleeting and burns only now we are at the top table. It will take time for punters to believe the hype and untangle themselves from their new Saturday ( or midweek!) routines. New investment will be the final validation that we are moving into a new era and there will many returners that won’t be able to resist this.

  19. He didn't just jump in its path, he then turned his back on it and drew up his hands to protect himself when he flinched. It's essentially a penalty for being a big jessie.

  20. Not withstanding the obvious exception, I would say the fans have rallied and are pulling together. 1200 at Murrayfield 1300+ at Easter Road 1200+ at Motherwell And great backing for the team at each game.

  22. Couldn’t agree more. People who either stopped going because the football was s**t, MJ was there, or whatever all find other things to do with their money or time. this cannot in the main just be switched back over immediately. the area is on a downer and employment isn’t exactly great either. Folks like me have had to move away for work and can’t travel 300miles every weekend. Other folks can’t afford it cos they’ve lost their jobs or taken a new one on less money. not making excuses but it’s a simple fact, and what we can hope for is a continued upward trend and getting the fans back in and more importantly the kids back in over a few years with SC in charge and a winning team in the park.

  23. Sawyers got a year long ban for less and that was directed at a bitter wee Tim in the Dundee dugout!! Lennon I have always felt sorry for. He's had nail bombs sent to him, death threats for just being a Catholic FFS and has had a pretty horrible time of it. He's actually a pretty decent bloke away from football as well. However it's actions like yesterday that make you realise why he's an easy target. As others have said, I genuinely thought at one stage he was going to lamp the ref. I'd imagine he will get at least a three game ban and has kissed goodbye to any hope he had of beating SSC to the manager of the year award.

  24. I’m seriously thinking of putting a bet on us winning the league next year we’re playing better football than any other team in the league right now just think what we’ll be like when we strengthen in the summer and get a preseason under our belts WOW JUST FRIGGING WOW

  25. Correct - he said that he hadn't seen the incidents but still managed to give his informed opinion. To make matters worse we also had to listen to that other imbecile Bonner as well today.

  26. Well said CB, some on here forgot that it takes time and effort to keep an eye on things. You don’t have to do this for us all. Thanks for doing the job. PS M07 isnae often off the mark BTW.....truth hurts sometimes.... A

  27. Hardly. A bad start granted, but jesus this is a poor mentality and no wonder the lads' heads go down when they have to hear/see pish chat like that. We've been on a great run recently (four consecutive wins, including record-beating seven in a row at home). We could hardly do that being "a shambles from front to back",

  28. I really believe we will make a lot of money from him in the future. An absolutely fantastic player for his age and what a performance today. Probably one of his best in a killie shirt IMO.

  30. As has been said. Next season will be the real indication. It's tough to be shelling out cash for two games in a week over a period of time which has been the case recently. Several positive stories on these forums of those coming back or trying to (like the lad from Stirling). Being on TV and watching great games against Celtic, Rangers and Hibs will only wet the appetite of some also. With payment options available for season tickets at beginning of the season for those who can't just walk up and purchase a ticket, and perhaps creative ways to engage young supporters, then I'm sure we will see the uplift we require. Have faith sir. If we are still here in a years time then we should worry.

  35. With regards to not watering the pitch I don’t recall seeing us do it since Clarke came in. Maybe it should be watered I don’t know but it’s hardly skullduggery if we don’t do it against every opponent. The pitch is an easy excuse for opponents to use now. All this chat about bobbles and bounces is crap as well. No one is playing on it for the first time anymore. There’s plenty of video to study and learn any differences in it. You have to play Rugby Park the same way you had to play the cow field at Fir Park a few years ago and every other dodgy surface in the league. Not working it out is lazy management. Before teams could come and beat an easy opponent now it’s tougher they don’t want to acknowledge they are unprepared.

  36. It's been a constant upturn in attendance since SC came in. I genuinely believe it would have been more too if it wasn't for the fact that we play our home games almost exclusively at 12.30 or 19.45 recently.

  37. Got to say the never say die attitude is incredible , results are amazing . I’d say it’s the best Kilmarnock team I have ever seen at the moment . I’m 24 . Clarke is a great manager he can influence games with subs , tactics and game knowledge . We are never beaten . That first ten minutes under anyone else it’s curtains . I knew Clarke wouldn’t accept it . Played them off park second half . Standards are high , Good shape and we are confident . Thought crowd was brilliant even shocked at two down they encouraged the boys . 4000+ is excellent for a tv early kick off . I’d pay anything to see our team play at the moment .

  38. What’s the deal with Alan Power’s contract? Big fan of Gary Dicker but I thought Alan showed why he’s if not more important than Dicker today, I thought he was excellent.

  41. He got 78 caps for England, captained his country, played in three World Cups, won the the Premiership several times and also won the Champions League. SC had a fine playing career but I wouldn't put him on a par with John Terry.

  42. I agree with you totally, we "should" have a bigger home gate. But unlike the OP I am not going to get all abusive and personal about people who choose not to come. It is their choice and abusing them is only going to make their return less likely. All we can do is lead by example
    2 points
  43. As far as centre backs are concerned John Terry has stated that if Villa go up he won’t play in EPL because he has no desire to play against Chelsea. He also wants to start coaching and would be perfect fit as he can both play and coach at RP as he has big connection with SC. Could it be another coup for us....

  44. Coyle has done a better job based on those stats. Managing to win four games for St Johnstone whilst manager of Ross County is some achievement.

  45. Mixu's team for me played a more attractive brand of football and were far more fluid. This team though not as easy on the eye at times in terms of passing game are just as entertaining. Second half today and that last half hour against Dundee were as good as I remember in recent years. Add to that the two games against the OF and it’s a good time to be a Killie fan

  46. Totally agree and it makes you fret that some of our supporters still haven't given him their full backing saying he's too wee etc____ strange!

  47. It’s refreshing to see a Killie midfield want to put their foot on the ball. Not since Eremenko and Clingan have we been as calm in possession. Today there was no panic from Dicker, Power or Mulumbu. They took their time and tried to use the ball well. It was a bit iffy at times but more often than not paid off.
