  1. I would love to see us add someone in the middle of the park with a bit of creativity - think Gary Harkins but replace the cruyff turns with passes. Haven't seen many links other than up top so far though unless I've missed something?
  2. Northampton doing a baffling Killie tribute act next year? How much would we have to pay them to sign Colin Doyle?
  3. Great news. Having Connell and Cameron with a couple of more experienced names to come up top seems like a solid plan. Haven't seen much of Brindley, would like to think that he could push to be starting 20+ games based on what we currently have in midfield.
  4. getting Naismith to replace Millen is like getting a brand new shiny car to replace a rusty unicycle with a puncture. Excellent business if we get it over the line
  5. Might as well stick one of those wavy men that sit outside car dealerships in goal. Unless he has the coaching ability of Mr Miyagi, no thanks, see ya Col, thanks for the nightmares.
  6. How are we meant to identify who it could be without mention of an attractive dutch girlfriend?
  7. He's a known quantity who can play 20-25 games. I don't really know where he fits into a 433 but maybe we're going to play 2 up top and he plays in a midfield two...Big Innes and Kyle up top is a dream
  8. Lets calm down - there's still 9 hours left, that's enough time for Lee Clark to sign 4 right backs. Free agents can still come in after today, reckoning we'll get someone in on loan, hopefully up top. Hopefully a big lump of a player.
  9. broadfoot confirmed out. that Dorrans and Anita thing looks fake.
  10. the waiting for Godot patter has made this entire 23 page thread worthwhile
  11. Is Taylor any less of a talent than Turnbull who was a 3mil fee? No. 3mil fair game for a guy of his age who has played 100 top flight games and breaking into national team (if it wasnt for Tierney and Robertson). That said, WGAF - don't see this happening this window. Celtic have signed that bollingboliboligolligllolli.
  12. Think he can play left wing too - decent pedigree.
  13. Realistically budget wise we are probably 3rd tier in the league: Tier one being old firm and tier two being Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs. Probably operating slightly lower than Ross County as well. Ross County have signed pretty well - looking at Spittal, Chalmers and Erwin as players we could have afforded . Motherwell probably similar level & they've signed various players from down south as has been their model in recent years with middling to good success. As someone mentioned previously, Clarke came in and basically created his own network to source players in the time he was here but mainly got in guys from down south, out of favour that i believe he would have been aware of - doubt any of his signings were unknown players to him if/when first suggested by scouting team. Otherwise his work was reclamation projects from the Clark/McCulloch era and bringing on existing talent. The concern I would have for AA is what is our scouting network model looking at actively to improve the squad and who is directing them in this? There are fewer and fewer domestic players available north of the border of SPL standard as they either go down south, or don't move, and the Lee Clark method of signing 20 random right backs for 2 of them to work out is a nightmare. Of his work with Antonio Conte, Conte has always worked at a higher level and identified specific players to bring in from what i can tell - AA doesn't have the experience (as far as i am aware) of any market other than the top level where you can afford to scope particular indiviuals. Without a robust scouting/recruitment team with a clear strategy of who they are looking to bring in, we can't just rely on "oh aye, AA knows Conte, lets get 7 Inter players in coz they're pals". This is no criticism of the scouting team that is there, i'm just worried whatever is going on at the moment doesn't really show a clear strategy in how we are going to get players in, which won't be helped by a lack of market knowledge by AA compared to Clarke. I'm fully hoping for 3 signings that will make me look stupid in the time its taken me to write this though...
  14. I have faith that AA can get it right but new signings need to gel with the existing team. The concern for me would be signing them at the back end of the window means potentially end of september for match fitness for some of them (if they've been free agents) by which time we could be a bit behind the curve. We've lost 6-7 midfield/attack players since January and brought in 1 player (El-Makrini) to replace that, plus the re-integration of Kiltie (plus) and Thomas (Jury out). That's worrying - i don't think its unreasonable for a bit of discomfort from fans because of that.
