  1. Interesting to find Aessio doesn't know why he was sacked? Former Kilmarnock boss Angelo Alessio has revealed he still gets Killie fans asking him why he got sacked from the Rugby Park side. The Italian was axed in December 2019 after just six months at the Ayrshire club, with Killie sitting in fifth place in the league, although they were dumped out of the Europa League qualifiers by Connah's Quay Nomads Since then, the 58-year-old former Juventus assistant manager has only had a short spell as boss of Indonesian outfit Persija Jakarta and is currently between jobs. But he admits he is still puzzled why he got the axe from Killie. He said: "I consider my time at Kilmarnock a good experience, even if I was dismissed when we were fifth in the league. "We were third in October, I had also received the Manager of the Month award, and then in mid-December after two defeats they sacked me. "And it wasn't just to my surprise, it was to the amazement of the fans who still send me kind messages about my time at the club to this day. "I didn't really accept how it ended. They were then eventually relegated. "They sacked me before my first real transfer window. I had already brought two Juventus players with me to Scotland and there would have been more. "The Scottish Premiership is different from most leagues in Europe because only Celtic and Rangers have economic power and 60,000 fans every week. "The rest pick up the crumbs that are left. "My memory of Scottish football is the great spirit of the players. There are a lot of high balls to the striker who is usually very tall. That's how everyone plays apart from Celtic and Rangers, who have very good players. "The Scottish players never give up. They fight to the end in an old-fashioned way and that's why I liked it. "Kilmarnock is a small town with 45,000 inhabitants. It's quiet and I have a very good memory of it." https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/23499705.angelo-alessio-still-left-puzzled-kilmarnock-sacking/
  2. A great hard fought performance from every one. Substitutes did their bit as well. If we keep up that level of performance and work rate to the end of the season, we'll do OK.
  3. Always said he was a great player!
  4. I'll be boycotting it due to Qatar's abysmal human rights record and treatment of migrant workers/ minorities etc.. Should never have been held there in the first place.
  5. UEFA are going to investigate now (BBC news): Uefa has opened an investigation into "potential inappropriate behaviour" by Republic of Ireland women's players after a video of them singing a pro-IRA chant emerged following their World Cup play-off win over Scotland. European football's governing body confirmed an ethics and disciplinary inspector will oversee the case, with information on the matter to be made available "in due course". On Wednesday, Republic manager Vera Pauw said the team apologised "from the bottom of our hearts" for the video. It emerged on social media after their 1-0 win at Hampden Park which saw them reach the World Cup for the first time. The footage showed team members chanting the pro-IRA slogan in the stadium's dressing room after Amber Barrett's goal had earned the side a place at next year's finals in Australia and New Zealand. Republic of Ireland women: Manager Vera Pauw 'deeply sorry' for offensive chants Pauw insisted that the release of the footage on social media by one of the squad was not the core issue, adding the player "was devastated and crying in her room". "I don't want to hide behind that because it she hadn't put it on social media and I had been notified about it and the significance, then I would have addressed it immediately. "I've also told her that putting it on social media is not the biggest thing. "The biggest thing is that it has happened. It doesn't matter if you are in private room or a dressing room or if you are outside."
