  1. I thought that own goal against Dundee Utd in pre season was a guy called Hugh Houston? Might be wrong, long time ago!! 87 or 88?
  2. Today in The Times - Michael Grant , "Sports Feature Writer of the Year" - "Steve Clarke came across as pretty grumpy and contrary after Kilmarnock had been beaten at Rugby Park by Aberdeen: a bit waspish with replies to some of the media questioning. Rose petals were being scattered at his feet when Clarke, left, began with away draws against Rangers and Celtic, and rightly so, but now things stand at just one win from his six games in charge. Five of those were against the five biggest clubs in the Ladbrokes Premiership so he can be cut plenty of slack, but the honeymoon is over and Kilmarnock are still only one point off the bottom. They play St Johnstone, Partick Thistle and Ross County next. That’s when having an English Premier League-grade manager should make a difference."
  3. From 88/89 season - Eric McQueen?
  4. August 1980, 1-0 v Airdrie in the Bell's League Cup (1st round, leg 1). Gordon Cramond scored Killie's goal. Crowd 2,986.
  5. Teams like Elgin and Stranraer as you say get Ladbrokes sponsorship money from the SPFL which helps with the travel costs etc Nothing like that is available in the Lowland league so you're asking junior clubs to join a structure where they increase their costs and decrease their revenues, it's understandable why they don't want to join the current structure
  6. I don't know about Ayrshire juniors but the other big junior teams in the West of Scotland would certainly be receptive given the right regional structure. The main concerns are the impact on attendances by travelling longer distances, for example, to Gala, increased club travel costs and costs of upgrading grounds for an SFA licence. Also some teams in the Lowland league have little or no travelling support, e.g. BSC Glasgow.
  7. I think junior clubs would be happy to join a pyramid system but one that is properly regionalised.
  8. Could be a pig in a poke left scratchings for goals...
  9. On the Egyptian theme, how will we 'Pharaoh' without him?
  10. Don't know if anyone else noticed this in yesterday's Herald:- "Young spoke to Kilmarnock about becoming Lee Clark’s assistant at Rugby Park but turned them down because he harbours hopes of re-uniting with Paatelainen with whom he believes he has unfinished business."
  11. Do the Moffats have any say on when and how much MJ can sell his shares for? If you sold your majority shares for £1 after investing a significant sum over the years then the subsequent £1 buyer sold said shares for a large sum would you not want some agreement that you got a cut?
  12. Bobby will always be a legend for winning the Scottish Cup but after that I remember going to Forthbank for the league cup to see Stirling Albion hammer us 6-2 in October 1997 and wondered how on earth he had managed to win the cup for us...
  13. The crowd when we played Falkirk at RP in 2010 and needed a point to stay up was 10,662. I guess that's the benchmark, although don't know how many Falkirk brought to that game but from my bad memory the away stand was pretty full.
