great finish and put in shift for 50 minutes or so to help in the overall team performance

For matters on the pitch said at start of season Boyd was a good squad player and could be useful at times or  in certain games during this season , but if we wanted to improve we needed more quality up front to assist and play in games Boyd would not be suitable for --and to provide us with far more goals

Noticed from watching the game on Alba that at halftime O'Donnell was getting some advice from Boydy which is good to see. So I am putting an apology out that if I have posted not so nice comments about him on here then I am sorry. He may be fat, talks p!$h in the media and a wee bit on the slow side but hes oor fat p!$h talking slow a$$ goal machine Mon the Boydy n MON THE KILLIE. :hurrah::hurrah::hurrah::hurrah:

Didn’t know how to take him today. First goal was what he’s made a career out of. Second I felt he was a robbing dick by stealing Brophy's chance at the hat trick. Having said that the big man had his role and made sure he buried it. It’s not stunning at times but he’s building a decent partnership with Brophy

As Clarke said, he is the penalty taker, and its right that he gets to do that because not everyone would be as quick to volunteer at 1-0 down

Aye but still, at 4-1 up it would show a bit of class to give Brophy an opportunity for a hat trick. The game was already in the bag. If the shoe was on the other foot im sure our captain would demand to take it.

If he stays fit, plays every week and continues his recent form then there's no reason he can't reach at least 5th/6th.

Good for him , if fit his eye for goal will add to our efforts in getting better results

he is looking a lot fitter and working lot harder now under Clarke than was ever seen under McCulloch .......

if he gave up the media work he may even be able to get another season or 2 at this level ......But also would need to do some work during the summer months on keeping his fitness at a better standard

Boyd's penalty yesterday was actually quite significant as it took him past Brien McIlroy to be our record post-war scorer in the top league, on 106 goals.

Only Willie Culley (149) and Mattha Smith (109) have scored more. Eddie Morrison got 121 but 32 of those were in the lower leagues.

Speaking of Brien McIlroy, he was allowed to assume penalty-kick duties to complete his double hat-trick and make it 10-0 after just 61 minutes at home to Falkirk in February 1964. He missed!

Best to leave it to the regular kicker on these occasions.

Falkirk didn't concede again and scored two of their own which meant that we enjoyed a huge win and still had something to moan about!

Look at the crystal palace game as an example. 2-2 into injury time, benteke takes the ball off the regular penalty taker and misses meaning they only get a point rather than possibly getting 3 of the regular taker had got the chance instead.

Very happy if boydie keeps taking them and sticking them away like he did yesterday.
