Sanny1869
Anybody been to this new(ish) restaurant on Titchfield Street? Best Ayrshire tatties I've ever tried.
Mogwai
Was in today - it is fantastic. The food was delicious and plentiful, prices were decent and the staff were friendly. Me and Mrs Mogwai were impressed. We'll be back!
diamond_geezer
I liked it, its the kind of place that deserves to succeed, and I hope it does. Short menu, but I like that compared to, say, the Buzzworks approach where you know a lot of the stuff is prefabricated or out the freezer. Enthusiastic staff too. So hopefully it does well.
Merk
I was in on Saturday and I thought it was excellent. The menu is short but to be honest pretty much everything on it appealed though both courses I had were off the specials board.
under5
Went for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it
Cocard And His Dog
Took Mrs Cocard a few times. The owner/barman/waiter is always on hand to talk to the customers. The Scottish seafood is top notch. Well worth a visit.
DuncanEwart
The Salt Cod Hash was one of the best dishes I've ever tasted. Had it on two different occasions then they took it off the menu- haven't been back since! (the draught lager is very nice too).

Squirrelhumper
Use it or lose it. Sadly the theme in killie is lose it. Plenty of folk moan about the town yet this is all too familiar. Works both ways.
Sp3ckyh0td0g81
that was short lived, shame, had a meal in there once at xmas last year, it wasnt long after it opened and couldnt really complain
Wrangodog
Shame, the menu looked pretty good but we never got around to going. Never thought the location was that good. Dragon Royale gets away with it because it's off ground level, but parking during the day is a pain in the butt.
casual observer
It's not in a good location unfortunately. There's been a succession of eateries there and none of them have lasted long term. A different address may have made a big difference.
virtuocity
Location may be a factor but whilst people are rolling into Frankie and Benny'a for burgers around the same price as Titchfields, you've kinda got to think that Kilmarnock isn't the location for a restaurant offering locally sourced, high quality cuts of meat. If Titchfield street got one of the chain World Buffet restaurants, it would stand a better chance of survival- it's what the people want. The location wouldn't matter- folk would park at Wilko's and walk round. Shame for the guys that run the place as it seemed decent, but slightly incongruent with what the standard family is looking for.

I've been in in France for a month and le fast food is the main thing . Family run bistros and brasseries ? You are having a laugh . The few that exist near Marseilles are tourist traps , you'd be better off in Frankie and Benny's.

A family meal for us involves at least three cars. At night or on a Sunday it isn't a problem, but on a weekday or a Saturday it is a big problem.

If you're talking about around Titchfield street, you've got loads of options- Tesco or surrounding, the McDonalds car park, the old Somerfield area, Wilko's etc. Safeway car park is only a 10 min walk. Drop folk off and then park. When there's a will.

I wouldn't park in the old Safeway car park, parked in Tesco's car park for the Crown meeting. In the Herald and Record reviews of Tichfields both reviewers seemed to like the food but both also commented that the service wasn't that great. What about Franklin & Sloane near the Dick institute, anybody eaten there ?
casual observer
Food is generally good, service is generally hopeless.
