Just watched the Motherwell highlights and read their detailed report on the game.  Noticed that they had senior players including McFadden in their team.  Our team was very young and once again tiny compared to Motherwell.  This only highlights the gap we had in the 18 - 20 age group when you take you Frizzell, Taylor and Hakshaw.

It is only one game the new signings didn't feature in at all,so am admittedly possibly reading too much into it.However the likes of Cobain,Webb,Bojaj,Smith,Kayode,Jones etc had been playing in most under 20 matches recently.Could just be that it was thought best to have a week playing our own youngsters. Will certainly be interesting to see if the aforementioned few feature either on the bench,or in upcoming Under 20s.

Already at first team level we have tried out most of the signings (most notably in the Cup games)...but are now turning more to the likes of Frizzell,Hawkshaw,Taylor etc.Arguably the ones we may look to 'keep' longer term seem to be Hendrie,Burn,Coulibaly, (and maybe) Adams and Jones as well. Is it confirmed that Green is away?Time will tell.

This was the first Development League game in which Killie only played U20s. In the 5 previous league games Killie started with 5 overage players, yet actually lost 4 of these games. The second half of the Motherwell game was actually very even, despite Killie for a large part of the second half playing with 4 U17 boys. Motherwell are league leaders and played an experienced side. It's not all doom and gloom with Killie youth development. The results only tell one side of the bigger picture.

Tuesday 27th September

SPFL Development League

MOTHERWELL 1 v KILMARNOCK 0

The Development side went down to narrow defeat at a cold, windswept Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie last Tuesday evening. James McFadden had a couple of early chances for the home side, but Killie settled into the game and there wasn't much between the sides. The only goal came in the 56th minute through Mackin. Late on substitute Innes Cameron had a good opportunity to equalise, but he hesitated and the chance was lost.

Team V Motherwell - Lyle, Queen (Wylie 63), Clark, A. Wilson, Lidington (McLevy 63), Dempsie (Cameron 78), Paterson, I.Wilson, McLean, Morrison, Whittaker (Subs. McDonald, Ross Miller - not used)

That was the match report on the official site. If that's the best they can do why bother at all ?
