Development League - St Mirren (H)

Home-grown XI again:

Lyle, McLevy, Lidington, Dempsie, Clark, A Wilson, Paterson, McLean, Cameron, Morrison, Whittaker

SUBS: McDonald, P Queen, Barr, Campbell, Taylor Queen

Most likely explanation imo is that English-based players have been given time off during the international break.

Then that Stephenson is preparing team for Youth Cup.

Least likely is that Cobain, Webb, Bojaj etc have been shown the door.

Unclear whether his loan has been terminated or if it's just a temporary break.

Unless the rules have changed since last season, cross-border loans can't be terminated outside a transfer window. Hence our need for special dispensation to sign Mark Ridgers on emergency loan whilst Devlin McKay was kicking his heels at Derby.

The Development side are being coached to play in the same style as the first team - long ball kick out from

the back.  At no time did the full backs go wide or centre backs move into space to receive the ball from

the keeper. Definitely back to the Johnston/Clark and then Locke style of play.  Morrison and McLean showed

some good touches, and the centre forward Innes Cameron looks like he has something to work with.  His

running and style bears a remarkable similarity to Paul di Giacomo.  However, overall very disappointing, no

wingers and little to get enthusiastic about.

He certainly looks like PdG!

Big lad - he must be well over 6'.

May well be that some or indeed all of them have been allowed to go back down south for a week or two.Still seems a bit strange for none to have featured in the last 2 under 20s games however. Also thought the likes of Addison might have got some game time for fitness.

I appreciate that they are young lads in a new environment etc. IMO though you earn rewards like time off. These lads haven't featured in the last two development matches and haven't exactly been standouts when they featured before. Why should they be granted time off and the Scottish youngsters playing and making an impression not be.

Having said that I think the likely explanation is preparation for the youth cup match.
