Monty
Scottish football has long been known for being fast, frenetic and physical with strong challenges and bad tempers never far away. This season has been no different with no less than 40 red cards being dished out by Premiership officials during a feisty league campaign. St Johnstone hit the headlines when Richard Foster and Danny Swanson were involved in an on-field tussle with one another against Hamilton which could only be resolved by the pair being sent off. But perhaps surprisingly, the Perth club did not make it near the top three of the Premiership disciplinary table. So which top-flight side has the worst disciplinary record? In descending order – with the worst offenders at the top – here’s our league table... Hamilton: Martin Canning's men were involved in a dogged relegation battle all season and it showed in Hamilton's card count as they almost hit a century of yellows. The South Lanarkshire team did not have the highest red count, but the combined record sees them top the table. Yellows - 98 Reds - 4 Ross County: The Dingwall club completed another successful season with a win at Kilmarnock securing them a seventh-place finish. Jim McIntyre has sculpted his team into a well-drilled unit but with that comes the inevitable risk of a few bookings. Yellows - 85 Reds - 5 Inverness CT: In the thick of the relegation battle, rookie manager Richie Foran bemoaned his team for being too nice, stressing that they needed to be nastier. Well, the truth is they were a bit nasty, equalling their Highland rivals' number of red cards. Yellows - 77 Reds - 5 Rangers: Rangers' return to the top flight hasn't exactly gone to plan, with the Ibrox club struggling to compete in matches against Celtic and a poor disciplinary record leaving them exposed at key points in the season. The most memorable had to be Philippe Senderos' deliberate handball in the team's first derby defeat of the season. Yellows 72 Reds - 4 Rangers could face Brendan Rodgers' hometown team Ballymena United in Europa League qualifying Hearts Ian Cathro will be glad to see the curtains close on what has been a difficult debut season for the young head coach. Among a host of problems to be addressed in the summer, is the club's disciplinary issues with no less than four sending-offs. Yellows - 70 Reds - 4 St Johnstone: Foster and Swanson's ordering-offs were actually the only two red cards dished out to Tommy Wright's men the whole season. St Johnstone secured an impressive sixth consecutive top-six finish but the Perth club will want to keep an eye on their yellow card count. Yellows - 76 Reds - 2 Partick Thistle: Alan Archibald was a battling defender during his career with Partick Thistle and Dundee United , and the young manager has instilled this quality in his team. The team have been willing to mix it with the best of them, and have done well to keep their disciplinary record in check in the process. Yellows - 66 Reds - 4 Kilmarnock: The Ayrshire club did well to stay level with St Johnstone and Celtic on the lowest number of sending offs in the league, but their tendency to give away needless yellow cards means they are not right at the bottom. Yellows – 72 Reds – 2 Dundee The Tayside club underwent a managerial change after a run of seven straight defeats saw Paul Hartley get the boot. The team weren't prepared to get stuck in, as highlighted by a relatively tame card count. Yellows - 67 Reds - 3 Motherwell Before his sacking, Mark McGhee was sent to the stand during a 7-2 defeat to Aberdeen . However, the manager's short temper hasn't been emulated by the players as Motherwell are joint third with Dundee in the best-behaved teams. Yellows - 67 Reds - 3 Aberdeen Despite having built a reputation as being direct and physical with combative players such as Graeme Shinnie and Jayden Stockley, the club have the second best disciplinary record. Yellows - 61 Reds - 4 Celtic The Hoops have been relentless as they look to secure the Treble on Saturday but rarely have things boiled over in their quest for dominance of Scottish football. Scott Brown and Callum McGregor were their only offenders, and the captain even managed to get his rescinded after an appeal. Yellows - 56 Red - 2* http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/dirtiest-side-scottish-premiership-10480224 Killie did ok.

Sp3ckyh0td0g81
No surprise that Hamilton are top, I am surprised poor auld Martin hasn't responded to this saying he can't understand how unlucky they are to be top of this table.
piffer
It's to Cannings credit that Accies card count is not higher. The last game vs us he took Imrie off before he got sent off. I've watched them a couple of times on TV and he's got his subs bang on before the ref made the decision for him. Would have thought Hearts would've placed higher. Always felt they were quite a dirty team. Not surprised ICT were up there as they were exactly the same as their manager was as a player.
Bigbill
Conspirisory theory here Celtic should've had more reds and yellows but refs were to scared to dish them out.
