skygod
It looks like the last of our waifs and strays without a club has signed for Welling United in the National League South (sixth tier). You have to hand it to Lee Clark - he certainly had an eye for a non-league standard player.

That'll be handy as his next job is likely to be at that level!

I correct myself - Jamie Cobain and Martin Smith still don't have a club. Edited September 15, 2017 by skygod

Agreed, it was a bad career move leaving a top six Killie team to move down there and take over a helpless task at Bury.
skygod
The Bury fans' website ran a poll earlier this week - Clark in or out? 24/76%.... "Shambolic"..."Stepping stone"...."Lack of footballing guile"...."Silly team selections"...."Has brought in a new team then decided he wants to get rid of half of them"..... I swear I haven't made up those comments! Edited September 15, 2017 by skygod

Blackislekillie
Gutted Welling got in there first.
historyman
The quality of lots of the players Clark brought to RP was truly dreadful and he tried to string the fans along for as long as possible with his 'they need time to settle in' rubbish. He saved us but he left behind a real mess.

historyman
Indeed he did and that player didn't need any time to settle in at all because he was good enough. In addition to him and jones there were another eight or so who are now non-league or without clubs because they weren't good enough. piffer
I hope we have an anniversary dinner of that momentous day in twenty years. It should never be forgotten. It was an experiment that failed. The idea behind it wasn't the worst but the quality of player wasn't what was required.

Quite a few of them will probably be working as waiters.

Lroy
Conference North is the worst level of football I've ever paid to watch. Dire.

Big FA Cup tie for them today at home to Haringey (they lost). They're probably still counting the gate receipts from the crowd of 329....

Didn't last long at Welling - left after a month. To update the whereabouts of Clark's 24 signings last season - Oliver Davies (Merthyr Tydfil) Freddie Woodman (Newcastle Utd) Luke Hendrie (Burnley/ Bradford City loan) Jamie Cobain (unattached) William Boyle (Cheltenham Town) Jonny Burn (Bristol Rovers) Josh Webb (Kidderminster Harriers) Kristoffer Ajer (Celtic) Karleigh Osborne (Grimsby Town) Callum McFadzean (Guiseley) Dapo Kayode (Derry City) Sean Longstaff (Newcastle Utd/ Blackpool loan) Callum Roberts (Newcastle Utd) Charlee Adams (Dagenham & Redbridge) George Green (Viking Stavanger) Martin Smith (Coleraine) Mark Waddington (Stoke City) Flo Bojaj (Unattached) Josh Umerah (Charlton Athletic/ Wycombe Wanderers loan) Conor Sammon (Partick Thistle) Nathan Tyson (Retired?) Souleymane Coulibaly Jordan Jones Scott Boyd More than a little surprised to see Green at Stavanger but he played 2 (5) and scored once after signing in August. Couldn't save them from relegation though. McFadzean was a used sub in Guiseley's great FA Cup replay win at Accrington Stanley but his kick in the penalty shoot-out was saved. Tyson seems to have retired to concentrate on his women's sportswear business. Most of the rest aren't playing much first team League football, the exceptions being Sammon and Longstaff, who has scored five goals in 13 (3). Boyle and Hendrie are in and out. Woodman has been restricted to six U23 appearances....and has conceded six goals twice! Edited November 15, 2017 by skygod
Gaz of the 20/20
Nathan Tyson is playing with Wycombe. Think he’s even scored a couple of goals
Fletch
I didn't realise Kenny Shiels had signed Dapo Kayode. I'd love to see him actually play a game of football just to prove he exists. Kenny must still have good contacts here, maybe someone at Killie actually saw him and rated him.
