Cill Mheàrnaig
6ft 3' Slovakian defender. Signed with the club last night. Was last playing in Lebanon.
Scouser2
Interesting signing ...... would hope we can find the right combination in central defence before too long.... could it signal club has been advised chances of signing Ajer have diminished....due to circumstances at his parent club.
mitch14
If nothing else, pleasing to see that McCulloch realised we needed a better centre half. Sounds like what we need on paper. Good luck to him.

piffer
IMO we need another CB on the books as we only have three who claim that to be their natural position. Had expected we'd hang on to see if we could get Ajer. As Scouser says maybe we have been told that's unlikely to happen now
BigRonFaeTheQueenVic
Hopefully better than Zdeněk Kroča, our last tall Slavic defender.
C4mmy31
Looks decent in the air in his promo video, comfortable with it at his feet and can find a man with the long ball.....
Pompey Repatriated
Interesting signing. Hopefully will be good. Same height as Broadfoot so quite an imposing pair
Gaz of the 20/20
Oh aye that's definitely the guy we met outside the toilet in the social club wearing the killie tracksuit. He's very tall.
historyman
A very exotic signing, a Slovakian who was playing in Lebanon. I wonder how on earth we got to hear about him, perhaps his agent was touting him round British clubs. Good to get some more height in the team That should surely give us enough cover at centre half now. There can't be many more signings left to come, maybe just a striker and one other. Sp3ckyh0td0g81
Interestingly enough watching they videos he's very much in the style of big Ajer. Tall athletic and looks like he enjoys a burst forward from time to time one from left field. Hopefully McCulloch has another surprise signing in the form of a striker. Id take the Slovakian Ibrahamovic if there is one
RAG
Looks big, dirty, strong, will pick up a few bookings from chopping down attackers in the tackle. Exactly what we're needing.

skygod
Those videos are from the Lebanese League and the Danish second tier. In Lebanon especially, they seemed to relish hitting long, high balls which were meat and drink to him. He seems assured enough on the ground and likes a long, diagonal pass but the caveat is that the videos won't show the number of times he was caught in possession or when his passes flew into the stands. I'd be wary of drawing any conclusions from such a low level. There has to be reasons why he's been plying his trade in Lebanon.
piffer
Hopefully it was cash. You are correct Skygod we can't judge one potential signing on the level they are playing at and ignore it for another. What kind of level are said leagues. I'd imagine with no evidence whatsoever the Danish second tier wouldn't be too far off our own Championship. Lebanon I h ave absolutely no clue.

Yeah he did a decent job for us to help dig us out a hole. He was Latvian though, Eastern European but I don't think Slavic??

Lebanon are ranked 124 by FIFA and have only ever played a handful of matches against European opposition. Information on the league is not immediately easy to come by. It's eight years old but this report from The Guardian doesn't paint a great picture. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2009/apr/30/lebanon-football-league-hezbollah-sectarianism I really doubt that money would be the attraction. There are few foreign players and you could count the number from Europe on one hand. If we are talking about players from Eastern Europe, don't forget Leon Panikvar. I know it's easy to do.... Gaz of the 20/20
He only played there for 6 months. Maybe he fancied a change of scenery.

mitch14
I'm having none of this rational debate. Massive centre back with a good name. He's basically Per Mertesacker level of quality until proven otherwise *rules emoji from the old forum*

skygod
FWIW here's another video from Slovakian league. Very right-sided - a lefty would have been good.
c_u_jimmy
Seems to make a lot if sliding tackles. Not the thing to do on our artificial turf.
