Homesick: Manager in the Standard

Whats the point of signing Power not to play every week. We needed a dominant CM to build the team around. The youth policy is an easy get out. If they are there for the CM positions why are Chris Burke and Rory McKenzie playing. Probably because the kids aren't quite ready. If they're not ready then the squad is short of players.

Weve signed Higgins, Broadfoot and Greer for CB. We already had Scott Boyd on the books. We also have Dicker and Wilson who can provide cover there. That's six players in the first team squad to fill two spots in a starting 11. Why are we still going looking for additional cover. If it's Ajer he wants why sign the other three and not just wait for your number one target.

He's done a lot of his business backwards IMO. He's built a squad when he should have sorted out key roles within the team before padding out the squad.

Agree 100%.

One additional thought stimulated by your post piffer. Over the past few years by different managers at various times it has been a default to criticise young players for the team's shortcomings yet as much if not more of the blame has lain with older players.

At least the youngsters can run about ......... we have far too many immobile players and everyone knows who they are.

Their condition (and we've had a more than a few fatties in recent years) and the number of injuries we've had over the last 4 or 5 years have to be an indictment of the training regime, successive managers and the individuals themselves.

A professional footballers body is his toolkit and anyone who can't subscribe to that should be punted, or better yet, never recruited in the first place!!

Spot on. AJ and Locke especially were quick to criticise but it was the young guys who bailed them out.
