Couple of games were heavily discounted for entry. Even when we won the league, the average was circa 10k in a larger capacity stadium. We are actually, bit by bit, getting our smaller stadium. Prior to this exec box stuff the Frank Beattie stand had a capacity of 4,300ish and change. By the time the box(es) are completed, it'll be around the 2,500 mark. Include that section of missing seats from the East, and we'll have a capacity of round about 15,500 You're saying that wee box is going to reduce the capacity of the stand by 1700?? -

That's why I said box(es). Supposedly, three sections at the back of the Frank Beattie are earmarked for conversion to boxes. They were 'greyed out' if you tried to buy a ticket for them.

How are we bankrolling any of these kind of plans? We've only just become debt free (to banks) and due to the nature of the write-off, I would be very surprised if any bank would offer us credit facilities for a very long time. This talk of building a new stadium, moving to a new all-singing, all-dancing facility is all great but it's a dream-world as we simply cannot afford such grandiose plans, not unless some Egyptian sheik or Russian oil baron takes a sudden interest in bankrolling us. In the short-term we need to focus on improving the on-park product and bringing the fans back into the stadium to improve the atmosphere. As others have said, the stadium has never been mentioned as an issue until now - and it's no coincidence it's because we're rubbish on the park. Improve the primary product and leave the secondary things, like new stadiums, until we've improved those first. Many people have cited the example of Glasgow Warriors and how they have developed in recent years. That should be our target - we should aspire to growth and success. Absolutely spot on, RP must stay! It's a major part of the fabric and importantly, the proud history of this great club.
Ken T
Just thought of something to improve the atmosphere (apols if someone suggested this already but haven't trawled through the whole discussion) - we stop using the Chadwick except for OF matches, and cordon off a section of the Chadwick end of the east stand for away fans. That would immediately create an atmosphere in the east stand which methinks would encourage the home support to sing as well as we'd be more condensed and it would feel more like the vibe at away matches. If too many away fans stick them in the corner of the Frank Beattie. And while we are at it stick some platform above the Frank Beattie for the TV cameras so the place looks like it's jumping, cheaper solution than lowering roofs or moving! Any takers?
Caldow
Knock down the Moffat Stand and build the training complex there, there’s plenty of room. Maybe face the pitch with some boxes on the back of gym/offices.

I don't think so.

I love statistics about grounds and attendances.

It would be a simple, cost effective way to do it. Almost certainly improve the atmosphere. Do some professional stuff with advertising, club history to cover the seats behind the goals, and Bob's your auntie. -

I believe with regards to a section of safe standing was maybe something that TIK could be used for. Rather than a blind 100k into the pot of Killie's finances, we dedicate some of the fund to installing a section of the rail seating. Seems from a quick search that the price is £80 per seat, 1 section of 400 or so would cost £32000. Not outrageous. Probably cost more than that when you add labour etc. The trusts 100k could be used for that. Would increase atmosphere as i believe fans would be drawn to that section for the novelty factor alone.

Pogo
The Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield was torn down and redeveloped a few years ago. It was a much larger site (also a brownfield site), but the cost to demolish and reinstate the site was £40m. It's not cheap to make a stadium disappear. Plenty of info to be found on google. (I posted the wrong planning application, can't find the reference I copy-pasted and their archive throws up too many results ) I just don't think that moving from Rugby Park can ever be viewed as cash-out option.
