In this instance, the only statistic that counts is the win column.

Football is a results business. Lee wasn't getting them, and it didn't look like he would, whereas other managers' teams with similar shaky starts, at least looked like they might.

I agree, I'd argue the 'performances' were despite McCulloch. The stories of how bad training was is proof enough that getting rid is the best thing for us.
