piffer
For me it’s MacDonald in goal Back four of O'Donnell, Greer, Findlay and Waters Midfield three of Taylor, Hawkshaw and either McKenzie or Frizzell. Front three of Jones and Thomas supporting Erwin. Waters is a LB who has been used out of position so far. Taylor started as a CM and IMO his best performances came for us in that role last year particularly against Sevco up to and including the Barton tackle. Midfield is the hardest area. I can see why Nelly opted for Scott Boyd as we have no height or physicality in there. I’m not sure asking a CB to hold it together would work though. McKenzie must be due a performance so I’m not sure whether I’d go with him or Frizzell. To be honest every possible midfield I came up with gave me the fear. To those who have watched the development side this season. Is Mouanda close to pushing for a first team shot? Would he bring anything to the team at this stage?
Neilly
Why have we sighed Spencer and power if there never going to get a game or are they just unfit
Pompey Repatriated
I do find playing Waters as a midfielder over Taylor odd.
Pompey Repatriated
I think Spencer is a development player? I have to admit I've got high hopes of Mouanda.

This seems more odd given he doesn’t feature for the development side either. Spencer is a strange one as well. Anyone I’ve spoken to who has watched him did have much positive to say about him. Given how bad midfield has been these two must be horrific if they can’t get in it. Isle of Wight Exile is he not too old for the development side. Yes he’s only 21 but a signing at that age we should be looking to be ready to feature for the first team.

Loudoun Killie
How can anyone advocate Frizzell having a starting place, he has been lost in recent games, especially against Ross County.....Hawkshaw has been way better since he came back in.... -
Scouser2
Be interesting to see how the caretaker coaches change things , if at all .......in terms of personnel and formation .....even see a chance given to players seldom used so far ....was hoping they might have used the development game during the week to help in this regard midfield options still a major concern , badly lacking in that area which other teams have exploited Edited October 11, 2017 by Scouser2
skygod
It always looked like a favour to his dad giving Spencer a trial. Signing him, based on his previous career, was even more surprising. As for the selection, it will be interesting to see what, if any changes, McDonald makes. Conversations with Boyd as to whether he gets even a place on the bench should be interesting.
Charlie's Dad
MacDonald O’Donnell Greer Findlay Taylor Jones S.Boyd Hawkshaw Thomas Erwin Brophy Back four for me almost picks itself. Put Scott Boyd in midfield to hopefully put a tackle in and add some more height in the penalty boxes. Thomas and Jones on the wings to hopefully get balls into the box. Erwin and Brophy are both due a performance and it’s a game we must win.

Been saying this for weeks, frizzell does very little to get into the team every week, doesn’t say much about Power though if he can’t push for a start in what is a very poor midfield.

Been watching KFC since game 1 and I have never heard the name mentioned once. Erwin couldn't catch a cold if you lent him a Zimmer. Your midfield would land in Outer Mongolia if they got hit by a puff if wind. Provided Plastic's forwards are not too nippy you might just about survive with that back four although your chance of a clean sheet would be higher down The Great Eastern homeless shelter on Duke Street. Apart from that, fine. Edited October 11, 2017 by gdevoy

I'd take him over Stephen Smith any day of the week.
