Scooter
A lot of folk will still be saying, "who?", but as he's just been elected leader of the branch office, establishment Red Tory heads will be imploding! Fun times ahead!

Mclean07
Good man with a good radical agenda. Fighting for ordinary Scottish people, with politics well to the left of the ultra cautious Tartan Tories, he should do well. He may suffer a bit from the bigotry that the SNP have encouraged and stirred up in our proud country, being English, but hopefully his decency will shine through. -

Zorro
Someone doesn’t appear to know where the SNP deputy leader was born, before they tried to smear the party with claims of bigotry. It appears more likely that he was punished by unionist Brits, at the ballet box, for speaking up for Scotland.

Aw right, we are aw squablin about who to thank and who did what etc., etc., but I don't see our "Politician of the Year"'s name or that of her party associated with any of this.
harley
Even Jackie Baillie was big enough to give the Scottish Government some credit for the BiFab deal but not Richard. He is already acting like a Dick. "Forced a deal from the government" complete & utter fabrication Richard. Jeanne Freeman sums it up perfectly below. THERE was an angry response from SNP politicians after Scottish Labour’s new leader, Richard Leonard, seemed to claim credit for saving Burntisland Fabrications. In tweets late on Saturday night, Leonard also seemed to suggest it was the Scottish Government who had put the firm, known as BiFab, at risk. “I’m currently in Methil standing alongside the BiFab workers. Their courage and determination this week led by their trade unions GMB and Unite, has secured an important victory. This is the Labour movement at its best,” he tweeted. He added: “I welcome the fact that the combined pressure of BiFab workers, their trade unions and the public have forced a deal from the Government. “As we await the details of the deal, we must ensure that it protects all the 1400 jobs under threat now and in the future.” Business Minister Paul Wheelhouse, who had spent much of the week working on the deal, tweeted: “Who knew, when Adam Smith coined concept of ‘invisible hand’ in economics, he was inspired by Richard Leonard’s (non)delivery of BiFab deal?” The SNP Social Security Minister Jeanne Freeman tweeted to Leonard: “You know that moment, that golden moment when it’s your chance to set the tone, signal the change you’ve kept on talking about? Blew it.” Labour’s Jackie Baillie also put some distance between herself and the party’s new leader: “This is excellent news. Well done to all involved @GMBScotOrg @NicolaSturgeon @KeithBrownSNP and @PaulWheelhouse”

All they need to do is use a few anti SNP sound bites and pardon me for using a Sandman phrase and McLean's is moist. They'll never learn. Quite sad really.

A time for a statesmen to offer gracious acknowledgement of the hard work of all involved in avoiding financial catastrophe and human misery or a time for a backstreet politician to try to claim the credit. I hope he can learn from this.
ross1987
See the BBC running an article saying that he will still support England over Scotland. A non-story obviously, and you wouldn't expect anything less, good on him. Of course if you're Scottish and reverse that sentiment, you're an anti-English bigot.

We as a nation used to produce political giants who were intelligent, compassionate and competent. The number of our elected representatives that can do better than one of three of the above can be counted on the fingers of one hand. I also must sadly admit that most of those are either SNP or Tory!!!

Mclean07
Decent result, given the relative turmoil the Scottish Labour Party has been in recently. Definately looking like peak SNP has passed. Add on any increases in tax and they may sink quite a bit further. They are desperately try to engage the electorate and the other parties on tax, so that the " blame " can be shared. Don't know why, as I'm sure the whole of Scotland will welcome the redistribution of wealth to the less fortunate............oh wait....... -
