Fankle
Have only read online comments. Seems Mo Farah was being presented with the trophy via satellite and the link was lost.

Two useless gits being rewarded.
skygod
The voting was bizarre: Sir Mo Farah 83,524 Jonathan Rea 80,567 Jonnie Peacock 73,429 Anthony Joshua 73,411 Adam Peaty 63,739 Lewis Hamilton 60,627 Chris Froome 47,683 Harry Kane 18,759 Anya Shrubsole 15,237 Bianca Walkden 13,962 Johanna Konta 7,591 Elise Christie 6,504 Peacock must have got a big Strictly vote and the NI public and motorbike lobby must have got behind Rea. As long as Hamilton didn't win it, though. I don't think he ever will. I thought Joshua was a sure thing, but Farah was overdue.
CB
The BBC hasn't run it's own outside broadcasts for years. SiS, IMG, Telegenic, Prestige, Visions, CTV are amongst the companies that are/have been used. Sat links usually go through BT for major outside broadcasts.

Pompey Repatriated
Right. What did Mo did Mo do this year and who are Peacock and Rea? Apart from types of bird. To be fair though I no of know sportsman who's done well this year. (Self ignorance)

No they weren't strong candidates. If they were going to put a token Scot in the list I would have preferred Katie Archibald. The whole thing went downhill when the BBC decided which sportsmen and women were worthy of your vote. I have never heard of the second and third placed sportsmen.
Scooter
What defines a "strong candidate"? Really don’t get what this award is given for. Is it for achievement within their respective sports, what they’ve done outside sport or just a glorified popularity poll?

Good idea, privatisations have worked so well in the past... let's subsidise more privateers with public funds
