It's also the first window for a long time that the squad hasn't desperately needed a boost with some new faces. It's the first time in years we have gone into the January transfer window on the back of a good run of results. Perhaps more boring because there is less worry and panic than there usually is. It's the first time since Kenny was manager that I don't consider us to be genuine relegation contenders at this stage of the season. Makes a pleasant change.

Exactly.  The response from the players has been fantastic since Clarke came in.  No need for any panic buys or loans like previous seasons as the January window represents poorer value than the summer. I expect one or two may depart and this will have an influence on what business we do.  Kiltie will also be fully fit and we have Wilson returning from injury to add more depth.  I'd expect one or two young players to go out on loan.

One transfer to keep an eye on is Huddersfield's pursuit of Norwich's Alex Pritchard.  If the Canaries cash in on him this may well see them lodge a bid for Jones as a direct and cheaper replacement.  That could kick start a bidding war for him and also our own incoming activity.

One thing is for sure.  Clarke knows what he's doing!

I think the squad needs padding out a bit in key areas. We have developing players to come in but no one of a similar quality to replace the likes of Broadfoot, Dicker, Power, Mulumbu, Boyd. Upfront we seem especially light. Boyd and Brophy are on a good run but Erwin isn’t cutting it  and we could end up relying on him.

The big problem is we won’t be able to attract similar quality to be squad players and we risk losing the decent players we have if they are pushed out of the team.

Steve Clarke insists he’s happy with his Kilmarnock squad and that his players deserve his “loyalty” after a brilliant start to his tenure as boss.

Killie have been heavily linked with a move for Norwich striker Naismith over the past fortnight but apparently there has been no contact between the player’s representatives and the club so far.

Ridiculous stance he’s taking here. He should have signed about seven players by now and at least two of them should have already left. It’s the Killie way.

In all seriousness it’s good he has confidence in the squad and isn’t signing players for the sake of it as many do in the January window. There’s still a long way to go in the window so it might be quiet but will no doubt still be interesting

If he sticks by the current squad that sends a message to the players they are all rated. I would imagine they would take confidence from SC stance and kick on from where they left off before the January break. Perhaps we won't require new faces afterall unless 1 or 2 leave during the window.

Huddersfield Town have agreed a £14million deal with Norwich City to sign Alex Pritchard.

The deal would consist of £12 million upfront for the winger with another £2 million being offered dependant on bonuses.

Could this deal see the Canaries signing Kilmarnock’s Jordan Jones as a replacement?

Well minimum we should be looking for is £1m then. Similarly with paying well over the valuation of Coutinho from Barca after they received £220m for Neymar.

I see other teams doing more and more business in the last few days. Accies have signed another Greek player. Aberdeen a boy on loan from Man City. Hibs have added a much needed striker. County have signe Greg Tansey on loan from Aberdeen.

Also Hearts have agreed to sign Man Utd & England U20 World Cup winning left back Dimetri Mitchell on loan till end of season. He would have been ideal for us tbh.

Norwich paid Spurs £8m for him so they are hardly going to give him away.

It seems a ridiculous amount of money but he's a proven performer at Championship level and players at that level command this sort of fee.

Proven at championship level yes definitely. Still feel it’s a bit much for a players who’s not proven in premier league. Think it’s 11 and not 14 million going by reports so at least a 3 million profit for the canaries.

The fact that he’s relatively young and English enhances the fee. Most English players who move to or within the EPL go for vastly over inflated sums. Plenty of managers have commented on it when asked about shopping in foreign markets. Despite foreign clubs exploiting their wealth English teams can still get more quality for their money.
