Although mulumbu is a great signing, I think a player of his quality is a one off. There’s a large range of players between Schalk and Mulumbu! To be honest, if SC with all his contacts can’t recruit better than McKenzie - no offence intended - I’d be very disappointed.
Souleycouley93
Schalk is a player I like . He is a free in summer . Just a suggestion and a very realistic one . Clarke may have good contacts but only so many favours you can pull in . Hopefully get two players in and maybe two on loan out

Mulumbu was a favour with benefits for both sides. I'd be suprised if we see more like that in the future. We aren't paying more now than we were 12 months ago so will only be able to attract a certain quality of player. Why would a player move from England (or abroad) to scotland for 1k a week when they can get that (or better) where they are?

Ask O’Donnell, Greer, Broadfoot, Power, Eremenko, Dicker, Coulibaly, Jones.... Findlay is on £5k at theToon apparently but most of us would see him as a possible signing for next season, I expect. Is it a worry that we are used to working in a market that Clarke has little experience in. He seemed to acknowledge this at his appointment and cited it as a reason for picking Dyer as his assistant.
skygod
I think that was more to do with working with the players and what to expect from them. As Clarke has said, the players have been training well but he’d like to see more quality in the sessions.

And what experience does Dyer have that is better the SC at this level. I'm pretty sure both can tell someone who could fit in to their team at this level with no problems at all. There is no desperate need to bring in any new faces, we have a decent squad that has been performing wellas it is, and it is not like our nearest rivals are blowing the market apart either

Return home, Unwanted, Unwanted + Return home, Pay rise, Best pals act, Better opportunities , Unwanted, Unwanted. Finlay will not be offered 5k from any team next season (unless he has a storming 2nd half of the season) so he would have to drop his wages by 70% if he wants to sign for us. That is the reality market we are dealing in.
KillieBus
I'm sure that Finlay appreciates that he will take a hit in wages next year and that it will be a case of minimising the hit. He is a realistic signing for us next season, because he is already here. Also, some of the other current players will be on more than 1K a week.

Correct - there is a variety of reasons why we will always be able to attract decent players on our budget. I’m not so sure that some of those players were unwanted. Maybe they saw the shop window of playing in the Scottish Premiership a better career choice than League Two.
