PrestersKtid
Bit in the record today from Clarke saying the new training facility will raise us up to the higher levels of scottish football. Said 3 locations "in the town" being considered with a decision to be made by next month.
Fletch
Regardless of where the fans come from and how far the Kilmarnock supporting community reaches it does make far more sense to have the training facilities in Kilmarnock. There's no saying that the facilities won't be used on match days. Short sessions, fitness tests etc on the day probably aren't unusual and it takes the stress off the Rugby Park pitch. It makes far more sense to have the facilities a short bus journey from the stadium than bringing the players in from Kilwinning or somewhere else. tanerba'Tam
That's interesting - question to land experts re planning - can you build such a complex on green belt without complicated planning proposals as not for housing? Did the guy at Rowallan not just throw up a huge riding arena and it was accepted?

Agreed it is much better having the players in the town for community initiatives etc. Hopefully the new facility will also create some additional jobs in the town.

Exacerbated of course depending on what planning officer is assigned to the case. The guy at Rowallan may have had someone who was a soft touch. For the training facilities any proposal would be better placed in a simple site to avoid any headaches, never mind financial implications.

A think the “stress” on the pitch from a late fitness test would be very limited. Can’t imagine a short session on the day of a game either. Kilwinning is 15 minutes away. There is no suggestion from the club we have or will make an approach for KSC.

I'm not saying they should keep it in the town in case someone needs a fitness test. I'm saying it makes sense to have it in the town and close to the stadium for it to be easily accessible if it's needed.
PrestersKtid
Where would be available in the actual town? Playing fields next to the athletics centre? SCott Elliss? Moorfield industrial estate is expanding with more warehouses getting put up so that's probably ruled out.
Bullitt
Can we not piggy back on the Halo project that's ongoing? Seems that is a ready made training complex?

tanerba'Tam
Was there not talk in the past about both golf courses in the town being viable as 18 hole courses. Membership has tailed off in quite a few courses in Ayrshire and other areas. Maybe a possibility if Council looking to rationalise and raise funds for other projects? piffer
There’s plenty of land available on the outskirts of town. It’s about what’s viable for us price and size wise. What are we actually looking at. Three outdoor pitches? The indoor facility. Offices, medical facility, canteen, meeting rooms?
Killie alan
There is still plenty of land that used to be part of the old glenfield and Kennedy playing fields right behind the bowling club.
Monty97
My mate from the rugby club says that the new guy Bill White was trying to shaft them out of land for a fraction of what it was worth. We'll not be getting that now so we can rule that place out.
piffer
Was the rugby club not being sold to Sainsbury’s or was that just rumour?
Barneyboy
Plenty of land also on the site of the old slaughter house. Lots of options, not bothered if it's in the town or not. As long as SC has plenty of input in design, layout. We now have a board who appear to be listening to those with experience. Brilliant opportunity to do things as done down in the premiership.

This 100%, he has worked in the best training facilities in England and will pass ideas onto the club. he really is here for the long run as he will want a chance to reap the benefits of the facilities, it puts us in a much better position to attract players having our own training complex
