Totally disagree with this. The SFA have a duty of care to it's clubs as part of their espoused values. If they want him so badly, do the decent thing and wait until 2020 as has been said above. To take him now is genuinely inexcusable.

Blackislekillie
I used to like Chick Young as I thought he had some interesting things to say about the game in Scotland (for younger readers, Im going back to the 80's and 90's here). He's become an OF mouthpiece and its sad to see. He should've stayed retired. Edited February 14, 2018 by Blackislekillie

bute-killiefan
Every team outside of the OF is treated with total disrespect with this stuff. Unsettling players and managers and pitching them for the Old Firm and Scotland.

Bullitt
I like John Hughes. Always have as a manager. He's got a terrific track record and it baffles me how he's out of work while guys like Canning, Hartley and McCann are sitting with jobs.
Dieter's Heeder
The Scotsman Published: 06:00Thursday 15 February 2018 The Scottish Football Association is “making progress” towards filling its two highest-profile positions after a lengthy board meeting yesterday went on into the night. With the national manager and chief executive roles vacant, the board discussed both posts. It is understood Steve Clarke’s name featured prominently. The Kilmarnock manager’s case for the Scotland job could hardly be ignored after his side’s seventh consecutive home win the previous night against Dundee. The former West Bromwich Albion manager is becoming a popular choice among Scotland supporters to succeed Gordon Strachan, who left in October after failure to secure a World Cup play-off place. Those supporters have become increasingly frustrated, with 125 days having passed since Strachan’s departure as Scotland manager. Chief executive Stewart Regan followed him out the door at the beginning of this month. Yesterday’s meeting came amid reports Alex McLeish was close to being re-appointed international manager. ross1987
Barry Anderson at the Scotsman reporting that "Steve Clarke's name featured prominently as candidates for the managers job were discussed at today's SFA board meeting, McLeish also in the running" I'd be surprised if they didn't at least ask to speak to him. Gaz of the 20/20
Hopefully McLeish, would save them hefty compensation anyway which they can ill-afford these days. As was mentioned elsewhere it's an absolute disgrace that the SFA would even consider Steve Clarke, they should be leading by example and should have a duty towards the SPFL clubs to hope for the best for all of them, not act like the Old Firm and attempt to rape and pillage the 'wee teams' for their managers at their first sign of success in years. A year ago Steve Clarke was sitting out of work and would not even have been considered, we make a major coup by bringing him in and there's finally some positivity around the club and the SFA and media start making a beeline towards him, there's been no mention of Brendan Rodgers being quoted for the job. The sooner McLeish or anyone but Clarke gets the job the better to shut the muppets in the media up and let us get on with things.
kevin1869
Clarke has a job with a board willing to back him building his own team in the summer, a club with a strong youth system and a handful of talented players bubbling through, and a platform to potentially catapult himself back into the upper Championship/Premier League down south in two or three years. Or he could go work for a bunch of out-of-touch blazers who've already chased away the clear and obvious #1 choice for the job, while failing to also appoint chief executive which is to not even mention the whole clusterfeck around the national stadium, and with at least a 4 year time commitment to set the ship and get the country back to a big tournament, all the time with part-time involvement with players. And if you're lucky, you won't be hated for it in the end. Comes down to whether his heart rules his head, really. I could totally see SSC taking a job like the NT, but it's the wrong time. Clarke has really only had a couple of stumbles in management, otherwise he's been successful and is highly regarded - there will be other opportunities to lead Scotland to major tournament, but only one chance to do something special here, and now. Wrangodog
As a Scot, Steve Clarke is the best candidate, but as a Killie fan I don't want him to leave, so the SFA can go with McLeish who has gone anywhere for a job and failed miserably in most cases.
