Just a quick 2 minute calculation...

OF vs LL : (R v L1, C v L2), (R v L1, L2 v C), (L1 v R, L2 v C), (L1 v R, C v L2) : This is the possible home and away draws for the OF against Lower league teams, but we also have to reverse L1 and L2 (so add (R v L2, C v L1), ...) etc. and this doubles the count, and if we reverse Celtic and Rangers (so Celtic are drawn first), this doubles it again, so 16 OF vs LL pairs could come out of the hat.

These pairs can be drawn in six different ways - (Game 1, Game 2), (1, 3), etc. - and there are 4 other teams that we don't care about, with 4! possible draws between them in the remaining spots. And there are 8! possible draws in total (Pick one from 8 teams in the hat at first, then one from 7, 6...). So that's (16 * 6 * 4!)/8! = 0.057, so about a 5.7% chance. If you want to just count the OF both getting home draws, that's only one of our original four pairs, so you can factor this probability by 1/4, and that's about a 1.4% chance. Lucky them.

The thing is we have Steve Clarke. Yes he hasn't beaten them yet, but he will have learned from the last 2 defeats against them. He managed to outfox Rodgers and Murty, something Mcinnes has yet to do. Yes it is a stinking draw but we never have a better chance of beating them. I'm sure Clarke is already plotting how to do this.

Would love to beat a Mcinnes team!

Aberdeens success comes from getting their wide men in and putting you under pressure by putting lots of balls on the box. We make ourselves compact so they can't play through the middle.

Sorry but this is supposedly a fair draw and not fixed, yet the bigot brothers just happen to get the lowest ranked teams in the draw at home!

GTF SFA, shower of corrupt bastards.

worst possible draw apart from Celtic at the tattiedome.

More paranoid rubbish from the King of paranoia,. There was a period not so long ago when they were always getting drawn together.

Good one, although we did beat their successor club.

We beat them in the league cup a few years ago, Sammon netted two I think. Not sure about the Scottish Cup though

Scottish Cup, we've drawn them 7 times before and ended up losing each tie.

Runs come to an end eventually and Aberdeen must be aware that they are unlikely to string further uninterrupted wins against us, particularly now that we are in a positive mood with our own good run of games. Watched them on TV yesterday and although they won against Dundee Utd they were far from impressive throughout the match. McKay-Steven won't wander past our defence as he did yesterday but we all know how good Freddie can be so our goals will have to be quality.

Steve is demanding a decent KO time from these clowns in the SFA so we will have to wait and see. We must take up a good support anyhow.

Was that not so Sky or BT sport could show the biggest derby in world football or so the journos up here would spout when they didn't have the league fixtures

Exactly right!

They panicked that sevco would get knocked out so made sure they got drawn against the other cheek earlier than usual.

Now they've reverted to the 'home ties against lower tier opposition' model.

On a romantic notion wish we had a Ryanair type guy connection and we could fly Prestwick/Aberdeen & return same day for a realistic price. Four plane loads would be about 1,000..... Is Michael O’Leary a secret Killie fan.....offer him a free seat on the Board and guarantee him the European trips.... that day is coming.....
