bute-killiefan
Universal Basic Income is a matter of time. Tories can fight it, but automation will cost a lot of jobs. Glad Scotland is leading the way with trialing it. Ontario has also been trialing it in lower income parts of the Province since November
RAG
IF you look at the 2014 indyref and how the higher taxed Scandanvian model was mooted as a way to boost everyones not just health, but well being, this should be encouraged. If only so voters get a choice between the low tax Brexit Tory model and Scottish universal income - or the North American equivalent - as the O.P. has muted like it's something new. Is big break in policy between Scotland (in the Scottsh gov 4 trial areas) and Westminster though. What it will do in small towns like East Ayrshire, is to redistribute wealth. Despite it being a fundamentally socialist redistribution of wealth, it'll fuel self employed business folk too. Takeaways will be booming. With amount of dosh put into bank bail outs from public purse and "threat" of automation, allied to amount of old codgers - is interesting -perhaps even justified - feck knows how it'll work out though!! Gallus
Not the same but i'm sure Australia gave everyone $1,000 to boost their economy during the recession. Speculate to accumulate.

Speculate to accumulate. Poorest spend almost all their income in their own "manor" mate. Thus, income redistribution like this is more equitable on a community basis right across the country. Is what sets it apart over the Irvine development corporation or other ways they invest or redistribute money by the state. Is clever way of doing it and better than even tax credits n stuff - cos your not paying someone to assess the validity of the claims - is a universal benefit. Despite the more tax for top earners it entails, they'd be less crime too with less poverty - is f. in obvious - wearing my sociology hat lol Is much less daft an idea than it seems! gdevoy
I think in 50 years time this will be how all developed economies work. The value of low end Labour is falling below what is needed for survival.
Gallus
Bit harsh but I understand where you are coming from. Think of the people who have a business idea and that money could be enough to make it a reality or folk in crap jobs that could take time out and go to college and retrain for a new career, people paying off debt and having more free money to spend which in turn would boost the economy.
