Sami.

1-0 ht. Aberdeen able to pass the ball about. Sami had a good chance before he was dismissed but took too long. Muanda,Wilson, and left back playing OK but we have little possession. Millen just stands there with his hands in his pockets but Aberdeen coach shouting instructions.

The sending off completely changed the game, having to play for around 75 mins with 10 men and by then a goal down was always a big ask. Didn't see Sami kicking out, but really didn't like the way their players surrounded the linesman to get him sent off, seems their Under 20s are the same in attitude as their 1st team.

Had it been 11 v 11 it could have been different. 2nd goal came at the right time for them as well, after as said we were back in it with a good period of pressure. Thought Mouanda looked decent. Players worked hard but always up against it from so early on. A decent run to get to the semis two years in a row.

Still, that will be another final for Aberdeen to lose against Celtic.

Decent enough turnout of 361, considering the time of day etc.

In terms of the game the sending off changed things. It wasn’t a sending off but the Aberdeen player was more streetwise. In terms of the bigger picture I’d say only 2 on the field today are first team squad players next year. Wilson obviously. And Mounda. Liked him. Uses his body well and tenacious in centre of park. Can pick a pass. I don’t see this team often so bow to those with more experience. Looks like an sc type of player. Premature to say mulumbu replacement but in the mould and with another season of gradual introduction could be interesting. Cameron tried hard. Looks raw to me and a bit off first team. But has the physic and attitude to break through in time.

The only good thing our pitch is that it gets right up the Dons' noses.

And Samizadeh must be some kind of kick-boxer!

Killie's Youth Cup journey came to an end at the semi-final stage after losing out 3-0 to Aberdeen at Rugby Park.

Bruce Anderson scored a hat-trick for the young Dons after Alex Samizadeh had seen red for Killie in the first half.

Aberdeen started well and took the lead after seven minutes when Anderson found space in the centre of the penalty area before firing past Jasko Keranovic.

The sun was causing issues for the Killie defence early on with captain Iain Wilson misjudging his header, forcing Keranovic into a strong save at his near post moments after the opening goal.

The turning point of the match came shortly afterwards. Following a clash of heads, Killie were awarded a free kick before the linesman on the Frank Beattie side raised his flag.

After consultation with the official, the referee showed a straight red to Samizadeh for allegedly kicking out at Toby Wells.

Paul Sheerin's men couldn't add to their lead and Killie went on to enjoy their brightest spell of the match right after the restart.

Innes Cameron, performing admirably as the lone striker, forced David Craddock into a good save before the Aberdeen keeper was made to think smartly moments later to intercept a fine through ball.

Aberdeen grabbed a second ten minutes into the second half as the play broke down while Killie tried to attack. Seb Ross was able to play in Anderson, who finished high past the helpless Keranovic.

And the Dons striker had his hat-trick on the hour mark with a well-struck shot from the edge of the box which flew past the Killie goalkeeper with the aid of a deflection.

Keranovic was able to save an Aberdeen penalty with a full-stretch save from Ross to keep the score down.

But there was no way back for Andy Millen's team as their cup adventure comes to an end at the last four stage.

Kilmarnock: Keranovic; Barr, McLevy (Campbell), A.Wilson, I. Wilson (c); Mouanda, McDonald (Paterson), Graham, Scally; Samizadeh, Cameron

The young Dons are through to the final of the SFA Youth Cup at Hampden. They beat Kilmarnock 3-0 this afternoon at Rugby Park thanks to a hat-trick from Bruce Anderson. They will now face the winner of the other semi-final between Hibs and Celtic which was postponed earlier today. It will be the Dons first final since 2003.

Match report

There was a boost for the young Dons as captain Seb Ross and Connor McLennan returned from injury whilst Harlain Mbayo and Frank Ross, who are both currently out on loan, were also selected. But Dean Campbell and Sam Roscoe both missed the game. The home side were captained by Iain Wilson who has featured for the Kilmarnock first team.

A decent crowd was in attendance on a bright and sunny afternoon at Rugby Park. The pitch looked very dry which would affect how the Dons would play.

There was a nervy start from both teams which was to be expected.

In opening minutes Harlain Mbayo did well to win a header up against Innes Cameron. The tall Kilmarnock striker would be the main threat to the Dons. Then a long ball by Mbayo was flicked on by Bruce Anderson into the path of Frank Ross. The Morton player did well to get a shot on target and Keranovic was forced to make a smart save.

Despite Kilmarnock having most of the possession in the early stages, in the seventh minute Aberdeen took the lead.

Connor McLennan found Toby Wells down the left. Toby did brilliantly to make room for the cross and he put over an excellent ball which picked out Anderson. Bruce took one touch before calmly slotting home.

The perfect start.

On 12 minutes Anderson took the ball down on the edge of the area and played in the overlapping Frank Ross. From a very tight angle he fired in a shot which forced the Australian keeper Keranovic, who is on loan from WBA, into a decent stop. A few minutes later a half chance for Samizadeh who won the ball in the area but Harvie and Wells both did really well to block a shot on the turn.

After 17 minutes Wells tried his luck from distance but unfortunately Iain Wilson got in the way of the shot. The captain required treated but it was an important block.

On 21 minutes a major blow for the home side when Alex Samizadeh, Killie’s top scorer in the youth cup this season, was red carded for punching Toby Wells off the ball. The altercation took place when the teams were waiting for a free kick to be taken. The incident was spotted by the linesman.

A Graham shot defected off Seb Ross for the first corner of the game. Cameron and Wilson both had shots blocked before the offside flag went up when the ball was returned to the area. Kilmarnock were enjoying their best spell of the match so far, but the Dons were looking solid at the back.

Just after the half hour mark Bruce Anderson won a free kick about 30 yards out. Frank Ross took it but failed to hit the target. A few minutes later Connor McLennan won Aberdeen their first corner. It was taken short to Ethan Ross who put over a cross which Harrington headed goalward but it was a comfortable save for the keeper.

Aberdeen with the man advantage then enjoyed some good possession. Kilmarnock got lucky when Keranovic dropped a long ball from Wells. Fortunate for the keeper Aberdeen were unable to take advantage.

On 35 minutes McLennan was very unlucky to receive a yellow card for keeping hold of the ball. Connor was trying to keep the ball in the play and it looked like he had succeeded.

Aberdeen again enjoyed some good possession with five minutes of the half to go.

Defensive slackness almost allowed Anderson to get a second on the stroke of half time. A long clearance from Craddock found Anderson unmarked at the edge of the Killie box and he smashes a low effort that the keeper parried away. It was a good save as Keranovic had to get down quickly. Then seconds later Bruce got the ball again six yards from goal, but he could not react quick enough.

HT Kilmarnock 0 Aberdeen 1

Straight from the off Cameron fired in a shot which was well held by Craddock. The keeper had to look very alert a minute later when the ball broke free in the six yard box as the right back Barr was about to pounce. In between that Connor McLennan had a chance and probably should have done better with his cut back after finding space inside the area.

On 50 minutes Cameron did well to win a corner as Mbayo tried to shield the ball to safety. McDonald’s ball in though went straight out of play. A chance wasted. A second corner five minutes was better and Harrington had to head the ball behind for a third corner. Again Harrington defended the set piece very well as the ball was played to the back post area.
Kilmarnock were on top at this stage, but Aberdeen then grabbed a vital second.

A great tackle by Frank Ross deep inside the Aberdeen half won the ball back and got the Dons going forward. Iain Wilson did well initially to get the better of Bruce Anderson but his clearance was picked up by Miko Virtanen. Miko played it Seb Ross who unselfishly squared it to Bruce Anderson who slammed it home.

The goal completely took the sting out of the game and on the hour mark Bruce Anderson completed his hat-trick. The striker took a shot from just inside the box on the right. His low effort was too powerful for the keeper.

After 64 minutes Harlain Mbayo pulled up with a hamstring injury. The central defender had just battled back from a similar injury. He was replaced by Joe MacPherson.
Miko Virtanen made a very good defensive header before Seb Ross and then Ryan Harrington had shots blocked. Iain Wilson made a good run and beat a couple of players which forced Daniel Harvie to give away a corner. Danny had a very good game at the back, using all his experience.

On 71 minutes Chris Antoniazzi replaced Connor McLennan. Seconds later Aiden Wilson gave away a penalty. Bruce Anderson wanted the ball but captain Seb Ross took the responsibility. Unfortunately the keeper guest right and made a good save diving to his left.

Anderson them almost got this fourth when he produced good quick feet to get a shot away inside the area but again the keeper produced a smart stop. A slip by MacPherson then allowed Will Graham to get a powerful shot away but Craddock produced a really fine save. Great concentration as well from David. Then at the other end Antoniazzi almost found Ethan Ross at the back post.

Harvie was booked when he stopped a promising Kilmarnock attack, that was the only real scare late on. Scally curled the free kick just wide.

Congratulations to Paul Sheerin on the boys who could yet complete a League and Cup double. Next week in the Development League they face Dundee on Monday and then Celtic on the Thursday at Station Park, Forfar.

Someome gave a red card to this. What is your point? I’m happy to be educated by the more informed. But faceless criticism means nothing.

We were lucky the match was played at RP with a 2.30 KO.

The other semi was postponed due a waterlogged pitch but it was scheduled for Tranent's ground with a noon KO!

The SFA needs to get a grip if they want the Youth Cup to be taken seriously. Playing the final at (an empty) Hampden on its own doesn't make it prestigious.

Thought there were a number of good performances today. Unfortunately the squad lacks depth which is shown by the limited number of subs listed. There are a few in the starting eleven who in my opinion are not at the required level. The early sending off was a bridge too far. Having said that killie created a few good chances early in the second half and on an other day they would of taken one. The second goal killed the game as a contest. Still cant understand why frizzell wasnt called back. Aberdeen had by far the more experienced team. Really dont like aberdeen at all.

Youth cup needs revamped or scrapped in my opinion. 2.30 thursday afternoon is something i will never understand.

I was looking at Samizedah when the incident if you can even call it that occurred. It was a ridiculous decision by the linesman & a talking too for both players involved would have been suffice. The Aberdeen players totally overreacted unsurprising & it did look like they influenced the decision. I also think pretty much every sheep was down “injured” at one point or another, they’re a shower of cheating, moaning tossers in much the same mould as their manager as someone else said. The game was dire & they were less s**te than us. Several of that team are nowhere near good enough. Iain Wilson,Will Graham & Innes Cameron look like the only ones who could have any future in the game. Mouanda put himself about at times but his decision making when passing the ball left a lot to be desired & the big goalie is a liability at best.
