Match Report

Unknown @ Rugby Park

Kilmarnock will join their Ayrshire rivals in the second round after Chris Burke and debutant Erwin both scored their first goals for the club in the win at home to Dumbarton. Burke headed in Dom Thomas' cross eight minutes into the second half, and ex-Motherwell winger Thomas was again the provider as Kris Boyd doubled the lead with another header. Erwin clipped in a third with a nick off the post 12 minutes from time.

Comments

Lee McCulloch: “I’m delighted with the second-half performance, First half, though,we were a yard or two off it and they were the better team for the first 30 or 40 minutes until we got to grips with it.

We looked a bit jaded for some reason but, in the second half, we got a reaction. We passed the ball more crisply, created lots of chances. If it wasn’t for Scott Gallacher it could have been a couple more. All in all, I’m pleased with the second half but the first half just wasn’t good enough. We can’t afford to start like that [against St Johnstone] on Saturday, put it that way.”

On Signing Gordon Greer: “It would be a tremendous coup if we could get that one over the line and there’s one or two others we’re actively speaking to.”
