After the ructions over the location of Kilmarnock vs. Dundee United in the Scottish Cup Semi Final, the mountainside locale of the Easter Road pitch compared to the bowling green Falkirk played on at Ibrox, the two sides got down to business in front of a live national audience. And played out a 0-0 draw. What an advert for the game!
There weren't that many no score draws for Killie in the 1996/97 season, this being only the second of three, so you could say it was a match for the Scottish football purist. The first nil-all also being against Dundee United, in fact it was the game Killie Legend Dylan Kerr made his debut. (That's enough padding now, CB. - Ed.)
I fairness, there were a few close things, but with both 'keepers on form, there was never going to be a goal in this game. We'd end up doing it all over again in just eight days. But that time the result would be right. Wouldn't it?
