  1. What a shame that any debate has to end with crude and personal comments. I'm sorry, but for years I heard a " broken record " being spun constantly that MJ was the main barrier to any new investment. (Have I imagined that, everyone)? When he is in a position to sell next year, then I would expect those people desparate to invest to step forward. The lack of comment on new investment from the usual suspects makes me think they would rather the thousands of posts regarding this were quietly forgotten. If you dispute that this was the general line of attack at the time, I am at a loss. By the way, I've shown how a 25% increase in budget is easily affordable, but you choose to ignore it. I've not replied for a few hours as I've been out pursuing line of my many interests. Please stop making personal comments about someone you know very little about and concentrate on the debate.

  2. No. He'll sign him on a one year deal and loan him out to Montrose. What do you think he'll do if we sign him? Drive Billy Bowie's trucks? Fix the old scoreboards? Replace the stuffed owl in the Frank Beattie stand? Jesus wept.

  4. The difference with Clark's record was how well he did against teams around us, that's why we were never going down under Lee Clark. IIRC when he left we had only been beaten once or twice by a team who who were outside the top 6 (one of those was Motherwell on the opening day of the season) whereas under AJ, GL and LM it wasn't a surprise to get absolutely pummeled by Dundee or Ross County. The defeats that season under LC all came from good sides, it's very easy to look at the win/loss record and say no improvement was made but anyone who was actually attending the games under these managers could see that we were much more competitive under Clark than the other diddies.

  7. It's not about all ticket games, although it would obviously help there. It's about making it as easy as possible to buy entry to the match. Contactless at the turnstile - there are no free cash machines near Rugby Park, and I've forgotten to take cash before only to find the hotel one out of order. If I can buy my ticket through an app on my phone, I can do it in the pub on the way there and swipe through at the turnstiles. Easy peasy.

  8. Was up watching my step sons game last night, and Bowie's son was playing for Stewarton. (Who train out his backdoor btw) Bowie appeared about 20 mins in, had a brief chat with him, real down to earth guy, he's delighted he got involved at Killie, and loving the positivity at the moment. Couldn't resist asking about Mulumbu and Jones....."watch this space" with a huge grin was his reply.

  9. We will increase our playing budget mate, make no mistake about that. However if SH figures are correct, you are endorsing a 25% increase in our squad budget. That in relative terms is massive. There is no point using all of the additional cash up on wages. We need to start making profit year on year and not make hasty reactions. Clarke has proven with the squad we have already he can match Celtic point for point. If Greer, Smith and a few others leave we should have more than enough scope to improve the squad with better fit players. Additionally Aberdeen, Rangers and Hibernian are losing their best players and will have major rebuilding jobs to do along with Hearts. For the first time in about ten years we are actually going into next season with an advantage.

  10. It's been some season in the SPFL and that's reflected with the quality managerial showings over the campaign. We painstakingly narrowed it down to eight candidates and now we can reveal who has made the top three in the voting of our exclusive Record Sport Online poll. Jack Ross at St Mirren and Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson missed out but there's no doubting the quality of the trio leading the way with three Premiership bosses in contention. So, without any further ado, starting in third place... Neil Lennon - 12 per cent Brendan Rodgers - 27 per cent Steve Clarke - 46 per cent That's right, the all-conquering Kilmarnock boss has been named as the manager of the season by our readers. The former West Brom manager arrived to much fanfare in last October and his impact has been truly remarkable. In his 28 games in charge, Clarke has won 16 times and only lost three. He's dramatically improved almost every player and even veteran striker Kris Boyd has been rolling back the years. The signing of Youssouf Mulumbu has been inspired and European football is a realistic ambition heading into the final games of the season. His tactical nous has secured wins against Celtic and Rangers and there's no telling where this Killie transformation will end.

  12. I genuinely think it’s a good debate between Mclean and sh on this. There is obviously a lot of bad blood ( which as a relatively new poster don’t fully understand) but the respective points made are valid I think. I agree with sh that going back anywhere near the cavalier approach of the late 1990s would be a mistake and rely8ng on personal bail out is not a sustainable way to take us forward. That said, if there was ever a time to prospect or even speculate to accumulate, this is probably it. Sc has worked miracles. He has created a top end premiership squad. I think that the majority of contract renewals are consequently going to involve higher than previous salaries as exp3ctation increase and rewards are provided. In some cases like Taylor, a multiple of previous level (jones may take 75 k increase on his own). Depending on the addition we add and those that leave,I don’t think McLean will be far out with a 300k plus increase. Of course this carries risk but if we want to chase sustainable European football for a few seasons, we need to raise the quality of the squad which will cost. In Taylor we have an asset which at rate of improvement his valuation covers some of the variable cost risk on salary. Brophy the same. I’m not sure what the upside could be for couple of euro ties but with tv and increased crowds for ties (10000 people at 25 quid a pop)...we would cover the increase in salary. If we want to excite sc to spend some time with us, we need to take a little more risk. I personally trust him to deliver and balance the books, generating some special memories on route.

  13. Move forward three months, new post “Bad Killie make admin staff redundant”, seriously though, let’s walk before we try to run, we had several years torture, now things are good but everyone wants everything yesterday. One step at a time.

  15. At the time, Mulumbu was an incredible signing partly because the rest of the team had been so poor. A Premiership quality midfielder in a side that didn't have a midfield for several months. Fast forward six months and he doesn't seem so out of place.

  16. Just read back through the forums to see how many fans had great difficulty getting tickets for games. It might be OK if you live or work in Killie but if you are out of town it is a bind with a hefty extra cost if you want tickets posted. E-ticketing is the way forward. Makes tickets more accessible and cuts down on staff costs, both at point of sale and at turnstiles.

  17. Stilian, stop talking utter pish. Scottish football does NOT need a strong Rangers nor does it need a strong Celtic. it needs a strong competitive league where income is spread more evenly to allow competition to improve and standards as a whole to rise. as far as I am concerned the as long as this bulls**t is spouted in the written and broadcast media as a truth, then Scottish football will not improve. in fact I’d prefer it if both rancid bigot infested shut piles were ejected from the end of a very big cannon.

  18. I think you're giving them to much credit on this one. Hopefully, I'm wrong. There should be desks manned in the hotel on Saturday and the Hearts game selling them. Make it easy for people to buy.

  20. Problem for some folk is buying tickets for away matches if you don't live near Kilmarnock. For example, I'm going to have to ask a friend or family member to pick me up a Parkhead ticket to avoid the £7 delivery charge.

  21. Recognise his 'on field' achievements. But, I just never trusted him. And it still rankles with me how he decimated the squad the day after we stayed up. Felt it was heartless. I get that the squad had led us to that point, but you know it is possible to improve players.... And that whole disconnect between 'team to be proud of...heres 74 players that have hardly kicked a baw before on loan'. Thanks Lee, but I'm glad both parties have moved on since.

  22. We should sell tickets to away fans in the same way. It would give a better idea of the numbers expected and allow us to plan accordingly. It would also stop sevco from having anything to do with our ticket money. The idea of a club with their financial history, dealing with our money makes me nervous. Does anyone know if the old firm still put an administrative cost on selling tickets for us?

  23. All this e ticket and Phone scan tickets are excellent ideas , but lets not forget the many older generation fans who dont use computers or smart phones There should always be a facility for pay at the gate or purchasing tickets at the geound or shop in the days before a game.

  24. Contracts not being renewed? You do realise that not many players will sign deals for 1 year and the vast majority of our team are on long term deals? What are these easy get outs we can get if we finish low down int he league and we have an extra 5 players on 2k a week? You're living in lala land if you think we'll increase our wage budget by 500k. Gates being up, season tickets being up are all very well and good but that's one season. Same with sponsorship. We can't commit to increasing our wage budget for 2 or 3 years by 500k (that's £1.5m!) based on one seasons financial forecast being rosey. Increase it gradually and if season tickets/sponsorship continue to grow then continue to increase it gradually. I can't believe you brought up the Cocard wage - are you advocating getting millions into debt again? That was suicidal at the time by a board who were all about the "now" with little regard for the future. Bonkers.

  27. I would have bet my house few games ago that both would move in the summer, albeit jj for 1 million quid plus..less sure now. My reasoning has been challenged by the extent of our success, the resigning of key players ( Taylor on a 3 year deal is massive) and the infectious positivity about the place. Normal rules don’t seem to apply during the Clarke revolution. Anything is possible and jj might, just might give us another 2 year contract. Mulumbu ( who despite my preference for jj signing) is a wonderful player and it would be amazing if we could extend his deal. Still feels unlikely on that 1. I’m now gonna voice aloud, 1 out 1 in. Fingers crossed.

  28. Whilst I agree, I despise ticketmaster and their ridiculous fees. An online ticket system is needed, where tickets can be sent to a phone and scanned at the turnstyle.

  31. He sent me that reply on Twitter when I enquired about them. Huge missed opportunity I my opinion. He said it had been a busy time, but someone's been sleeping on the job here. Nearly everyone thinks season tickets are the biggest factor that will increase attendances in a sustainable manner. Hibs have rightly spotted their feel good factor and sold over 10k tickets. We sell them every year, surely it can't be that complicated. It's the same with the new strip every single year. We don't half know how to make life hard for ourselves. We should have had them on sale weeks ago with Sir Steve up front urging us to buy them.

  32. I have just seen that Motherwell have partnered with ticketmaster for next season, giving fans a way to purchase tickets remotely: http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2018/04/18/motherwell-enter-partnership-with-ticketmaster/ Surely this is something that we must look into, as the ticketing system is so outdated. This would make life easier for everyone, club and fans alike surely?

  33. I am quite sure BB indicated at the AGM in December that our wage bill is linked to our turnover, and suggested that the bigger the turnover the bigger the wage bill our manager will have to use? Therefore if our income does increase through increased gate money, increased season ticket sales, increased prize money, increased sponsorship money then it is perfectly feasible our wage bill could rise by a reasonable sum for next season.

  36. I went to a Fenerbache game in Istanbul a couple of years back. You get a ‘Passolig’ card which is valid for entry at all grounds in the top league. You then have an online account/phone app which you top up with cash and you can buy both home and away tickets for your designated club via the app. Turn up, swipe the card and you are in, the app tells you your seat number etc. You can also use it to buy food/drink inside the stadium. Some of the Turkish fans hate it as they see it as intrusive as it holds a picture of you and links you to the seat you have selected and because it was set up/funded by the government they don’t trust it, but a similar system would work an absolute treat here.

  39. There are many examples in football where you can purchase tickets online that can be credited to a club card or season ticket card for free. The plastic card can be scanned at the entry gate. No need for turnstile staff. No need for rip off artists Ticketmaster.

  44. Keith Jackson is clearly pitching his article to the mob. He will definitely get a lot of the knuckle draggers onside with his tirade but it lacks any kind of rationality and this sort of mind-set is what confines Scottish football to the fun pages. If an employee offers violence to his manager and high heid yins don't back him they stand to loose big time through the courts. That is a fact. In the Le Guen vs Ferguson fiasco of several years ago Murray punted Le Guen and I am guessing it cost a large wedge to keep it out of the courts. This is money King does not have. Look where Murray's financial judgement landed him and look where Le Guen's managerial competence took him. And as a consequence of the Le Guen incident Murray abandoned the chance of ever attracting a decent manger. The main problem here is that Graham Murty is an innocent bystander caught up in a train crash. Caxhino was a mistake and anybody who took over would look better by comparison. He should have been left in his caretaker role until a suitable replacement for Caxhino was found but I suspect King does not have the cash for that. I await developments with interest.
