  1. Thank you everyone for your kind words. Oboab loved his Killie, anyone coming to the door could see that as there is a big signed Killie shirt straight in front of them when they walk in. No party was complete without a rendition of Paper Roses and most folk will tell you we raised the roof. One of his best pals is a diehard green and white fan. He cannot stand that he'll never again banter with his mate. He was recovering from the operation that claimed two of his toes in December. The podiatrist had given him permission to go and buy trainers to wear on holiday next week. He never got them. His love of Killie was seconded by his love of Killie Pies. He took them to our friends in Blackpool every time we went. I am trying to set up a fund raising page in his memory for the Intensive Care Unit at Crosshouse. The idea is that they can buy items which will make life a wee bit more comfortable for patients and their relatives. My life is richer for having known this big daft lump who could write song lyrics in seconds. RIP Oboab

  2. You are right in most of what you say jesper and I agree with most of it. The club's relationships with sponsors is personal though, but that is not how its working, we can't treat people the way we do and expect them just to blindly put more money in. Everyone else gets a pass. The commercial "manager" though is a total trumpet and not fit for purpose and as a shareholder I reserve the right to my opinion that she is costing our club money. The CE is no better either and treats the club like she owns it personally. Okay not everyone else got a pass! I think that Jacko is doing a great job and the ground staff too as well as the internet workers, just to balance things out. I dont like being negative but people being blind to the obvious failings just because we are getting results now grinds my gears a bit.

  3. Everyone wants a discount, but tell me, who's going to fund SC's summer signings if the club reduce the cost of season tickets? Its a complete myth if we reduce the cost we will sell more than enough extra STs to make up the shortfall. You also suggest a scheme such as BOGOF yet dont mention the free kids ticket that comes with every full adult ST.

  4. From waitress in the chairman's club to head of the commercial department via being a golf development manager at Rowallan whatever that is. How did she get this job? How can you be effective when you never leave the office? Anne Clark and Tommy Adams were getting air milesfor gods sake! Next thing you know we'll be appointing a secretary/personal assistant to the role of chief executive via a complete disaster of an appointment at Woodward!!! We can blow as much smoke up Billy Bowie's arse as we want but other than appoint Steve Clarke as manager our club is still being run by complete diddies. Billy needs to clear the decks and appoint people who will actually not squander his and our money and might even capitalise on the one good appointment that he has made. The season ticket offer today is just the same old same old with a small percentage added on. No thought has went into it all. No good ideas, nothing innovative and I have no idea how it took so bloody long to come up with the same old crap. Even worse is the treatment of club sponsors in the run up to the sponsors dinner. Despite having ploughed thousands of pounds into the club in the last year my mate was sent ONE ticket to the event. Who even does that, its mental? At least he got one, I know someone who didn't get any and had to phone. When is the player sponsors lunch? Loving Steve Clark's work but he can't produce a challenge out of thin air so we need to get people into these positions who are fit for purpose - no harm to Billy's wife but she's not exactly qualified to be pulling strings in the commercial department either via working in the hotel kitchen. Still be buying a season ticket. Rant over and out.

  8. Exactly this. People want Clarke, they want Mulumbu to re-sign, they want Jones to extend. How do they suppose those will be funded? Not to mention the other marquee signings SC is expected to make now that we're a competitive top 6 club? I feel we've done well to hold them at such a competitive price, considering the season we've had and the new expectations on the manager and the team. It's the old saying that you get what you pay for. You want cheap season tickets, you'll get lower quality entertainment on the pitch.

  10. (even though it's not mathematical yet) The fact we're gutted about missing out on europe shows how far we've come. We were odd on for relegation this season. I've witnessed some of the best games at rugby park in years with a cracking atmosphere to boot. 5-1 scudding of thistle,Celtic and Rangers wins, comeback against Hibs for 2-2 and the best for me 3-2 win against Dundee with ten men. We've steadily increased our home attendance from around 3000 to 4500. Things on the up.

  12. I'm not sure I understand, I'm not sure clocking up air miles is what's required. It seems like a personal rant because someone you know hasn't been treated how you'd expect. In terms of the way the club is being run, did you go to the AGM? Did you hear about all the excellent work and recruitment that is going into Project Brave? In terms of marketing and fan interaction, the way the club has completely rejuvenated this since MJ left is a testament to the team behind it. That all doesn't happen overnight, and the Twitter, Instagram, website and all other "social media" interaction is completely night and day with only a year ago. There are still things that need to be addressed, absolutely. But given where we were a year ago I think the club is being run in a far better way and hopefully those improvements continue to other areas over time too.

  13. Completely underwhelming. “Please don’t bring your kids to Rangers and Celtic games and don’t bother to come yourself - we dont need the support. There will be plenty of opposition fans to take your place”

  14. After giving all the other teams an eight game start, any place in the top six is a fantastic accomplishment. These next four games are part of a learning curve for us. They will show us what’s required if we want to be competitive at this level.

  15. A heart warming story!!! My mate has lived in Cambusbarron near Stirling for many years. He got to know Frank and Betty Beattie very well when they ran a newsagents shop in the village. He ran in to Betty down the town today and they had a good blether. Betty says ‘What about our team then?’ and follows up with how delighted she is with Killie’s progress and how great Stevie Clarke is doing.

  16. Marketing genius, that'll get them flocking in. I'll take it one better, how about "If you want a season ticket, you know where we are"?

  17. No issue with the pricing, great value and it’s time to back SSC. The decision to exclude OF games from the family season ticket is however ridiculous. Whoever thinks it is a good idea at board level to continue with that is an absolute clown.

  18. One of the problems is that people keep wanting the club to take a punt with cheaper tickets in the hope of selling more. That's a gamble we can't take as the likelihood of success is not high. Also, you can devalue the brand. As someone said earlier, you get what you pay for. Apart from price though, not much imagination shown so far in the actual marketing. After all the delay, I was expecting better.

  19. Supply and demand. They have a significantly larger fan base. And in terms of Killie, you don't create demand (or revenue) by giving things like season tickets away free. If we want to be able to compete with clubs like Hibs on wages, we need to maximise income streams. Overcharge and no one will buy, give them away and we don't create funds to invest in the squad. I think the prices are very fair, considering.

  20. Go and see Hibs folks, am “early bird” will only cost you £385!!!! maybe that is why they get players to sign for them? I guess it’s up to the individual to either buy the ST or leave it on here for those who will! cannot believe the negativity on here, better hope SSC isn’t looking in

  23. I was one who thought we could get 4th and maybe 3rd if we continued our good form, but it would likely mean winning nearly every game. However with the way the results have went this weekend, I think even 4th is out of reach now realistically, and I think I speak for all of us who have been accused of not dreaming enough and being too realistic, we all held out some hope that we could win every game and a miracle could happen. You can be realistic and still hold out hope, we gave other teams too far a head start, even if we win every game, I cant see hibs losing 3 games from 4. However next season if we maintain our form since Clarke came in, we will be right in the mix for Europe and even dabble in a title fight. I know realistically it wont happen, but I can but dream.

  29. The board will surely have increased season ticket prices to help pay for the new contracts given to all the players who signed on for another 2 or 3 years and for the signings we hope SSC will make during the close season. I don't have a problem paying a bit more to see a better team on the pitch challenging the top 4 next season.

  34. When we won the League after finishing runners-up four times, did we think we were punching above our weight ? When we drew with the Real Madrid of Gento and Puskas and with the great Leeds team of the sixties, was there any mumbling about being realistic ? There is a generation of supporters so brainwashed and browbeaten by the media frenzy surrounding the OF and the top six of the English Premier League that the idea of a provincial team being consistently good and worthy of our support is quite alien. Get this clear; we have always given a good account of ourselves, sometimes against great odds, as in the asinine decision to go part-time which nearly ended in our demise. We are Killie, for God's sake, and you should listen to the increasing (albeit grudging) respect we get from supporters of other, lesser sides. They at least know the history and can see us making it again.

  35. What is expected is that they maximise the opportunity that has been given to them by the appointment of the new manager. McLean might bore with his repetitive posts but the sentiment is correct. There is no value in dragging a trailer round the town or parking it in Tesco car park because that in itself isn't going to make the lapsed fan return. All those other "barriers" that stopped them in the previous years will still be there, whether its cost, MJ hiding up BB's exhaust pipe or "you know where we are". The thing is we should know where they are, they've been a season ticker holder in the past or they turned up for the Aberdeen cup game and bought a ticket in advance but we forgot to ask a couple of very simple questions like what is your name, address, email? You know, something that a proper commercial manager would insist on! Then hey why not send them an email or write to them , hey you might actually have got a phone number off them and be able to call them, f**k isn't that truly revolutionary...... In fact, when you contact them why not invite them down to the club for a night, fill the park or caprington suite with similar minded fellows and f**king SELL TO THEM what they might feel, see and live next season and have every club official available to take their money or direct debit details off them right there and then before they leave. Or maybe they do know where we are and they will just simply come back because thats the deal at most clubs.

  41. In previous seasons we may have paid less but surely the main incentive this time is we actually have a team worth watching. We know basically what the team will be next season. We have a quality manager, the board are touting progress in training grounds and community involvement, social media is night and day from a year or 2 ago and TIK have reached their target and due a supporter on the board. I'll be buying 2 tickets, early bird is still cheaper than last seasons full price. The family ticket is £400. So £200 for each adult and child. If that's not good value i don't know what is. It would be nice if they included old firm tickets but there may still be a bolt on deal of sorts. As others have said Hibs early bird offer is £15 dearer than our full price ticket. We'll be one of if not the cheapest season ticket in the league.

  42. Insanity rather than stupidity, but I got your point. However, where is the fundamental flaw in their methods? Because there are a few disgruntled fans wanting more for less? The finance team have budgets to set and balance to ensure we generate income that exceeds our expenses so that we don't get into the horrendous financial predicament that nearly saw us go out of business entirely just a short time ago. Yes, I agree incentives would be nice but "loss leaders", for a provincial club like Killie just aren't viable at this point in time when we need to generate as much income as possible.

  44. the difference with walk up and ST money is ST the club gets upfront so surely it would have been in their interest to try and increase their ST holders and by increasing the price of a ST and only giving people 3 weeks to get to me sounds daft, a lot of folk are planning hols etc at this time. Do I want rewarded for renewing my ST ach it would be nice but not a great thing I would have preferred some sort of BOGOF deal where if I encourage a non ST holder to join I got a small discount but also possibly a new ST holder so more money. You have hit the nail in the head with missing 3000 that's the ones we should trying to get back and become ST holders and by increasing the price may not be the way to do that, you can take a small hit on a price but overall still make a great profit plus increase the atmosphere at games hopefully. Yes I agree with all the hype I thought there would be a major announcement like JJ signing etc

  49. Maybe you should tell Steve Clarke he's "mental" too because he wants to "secure fifth place and ..... try and claim as many points as we can between now and the end of the season." We can secure fifth place by maintaining or extending the gap between ourselves and Hearts so the best result is for them to pick up nothing at Ibrox. If Rangers lose, because of their superior goal difference we would need to make up eight points on them over four matches, which include trips to Easter Road, Ibrox and Celtic Park. Same with Hibs - seven point gap and a better goal difference. It would be fantastic if we could finish fourth but I'll settle for keeping a nine-point gap between us and Hearts and seeing what we can do about reducing the gap above us.
