  1. For what it’s worth I wear a red poppy every year and make my donation but I don’t feel the need to debate it’s colour, exact meaning or my suitability to wear it every year. I absolutely detest the likes of the bbc etc insisting every single guest and presenter must wear one and not only that but make sure it is well captured by cameras. It is a personal choice and in our democratic society I fully respect everyone’s right to wear one or not. My frustration also comes from the exact same patter in the media, forums etc............ wont be long til James McLean is public enemy number one. Not that I’m a fan of him at all but he has the right not to wear one, his choice.

  6. Questions were asked on another thread about 1. the most consecutive international matches played by a Killie player, and 2. the most Killie players in a full international team. Between August 2010 and June 2011, Eremenko played for Finland in nine consecutive internationals. Technically, of course, he was a Metalist Kharkiv player. Magennis made five consecutive appearances for N Ireland between September and November 2015. The most Clingan had was two. If anyone can think of any other possibilities, I'll have a look. As for Scotland, Bobby Ferguson played six consecutive matches: 2 April 1966 England (H) 3-4 11 May 1966 Netherlands (H) 0-3 18 June 1966 Portugal (H) 0-1 25 June 1966 Brazil (H) 1-1 22 October 1966 Wales (A) 1-1 16 November 1966 Northern Ireland (H) 2-1 Hard to believe that within eight days in June I saw Coluna, Torres, Eusebio, Pele, Gerson, Amarildo and Jairzinho at Hampden! Cruyff hadn't begun his international career at that time. Joe Nibloe (1929-1932) is our most capped Scottish player with 11, but he made five consecutive appearances twice. Ian Durrant made five consecutive appearances in 1999 and, of course, Stephen O'Donnell has now made five this year. The most Kilmarnock players capped by Scotland in a single match is three, I think: James Mitchell, William Agnew and Bobby Templeton v. Ireland (A) 1908 There's several instances of two: James Orr and James "Bummer" Campbell v. Wales (H) 1892 Mitchell and Templeton v. Ireland (A) 1910 Nibloe and Hugh Morton v. Netherlands (A) in 1929 Campbell Forsyth and Jackie McGrory v. N Ireland (H) and Finland (H) both 1964 Ferguson and McGrory v. Portugal (H) 1966 Billy Dickson and Tommy McLean v. N Ireland (A) and Wales (H) both 1970 Ally McCoist and Durrant v. Estonia (H) 1998 I can't guarantee that I haven't overlooked anyone or anything - just a best attempt while (not) watching the rerun of last night's match!

  9. Once again, the first ninety years or so of the club’s history ignored. I suppose it’s more “interesting” to have living inductees those present have seen playing, or have at least heard of, than long-deceased people who did their bit for the club before anyone present was born. Personally, I would prefer to see the likes of “Bud” Maxwell, Bobby Templeton and “Bummer” Campbell recognised but clearly the committee has a more populist agenda.

  10. From the available evidence, we will never know if Jordon tripped, fell or fouled and I wonder if he evens knows himself for sure. What we do know is that we got 3 points for a win and Dundee got sod all. Why are we even expecting the "Blazers" to react judiciously? They are a biased, predictable bunch of hangers on and will never overcome their inherent bias in favour of the "Big Scottish Teams". Their management abilities are reflected not only in decisions like this one but in their wider areas of influence such as our widely feared international team. The latest managerial appointment in McLeish speaks volumes and last nights result against a team ranked 93rd in the world reinforces the point. Lets all get on with supporting our current team of talented, committed players under the guidance of a top manager while we can, because the time will come when we return to less elevated performance levels. This season is our best chance of big big success, so let's enjoy the moment and let all around us drown in their envy including the BBC deadbeats seeing their beloved Dons wallow mid table. We might just do the unthinkable.

  11. Rather than harp on and on about the mistakes of the past I would much prefer we stopped fighting and engaging in new wars.We occupy other countries and send soldiers away to occupy foreign lands where we do not like the current regime. The British Legion send around pictures of "our boys" who have been injured in some far flung place that we have no right to be involved with. It is not my responsibility to look after soldiers, who were injured by doing what they signed up to do, but the responsibility of the government who sent them into such a conflict. It should also be remembered that the red poppy campaign is purely to help british (and Commonwealth) soldiers. What about the soldiers of other nations and even the civilians, many of whom are children, who are victims of war? The red poppy has become a political points scoring exercise and is used to justify the current wars we are involved with. It is a show of jingoism and in my opinion glorifies and promotes war. White poppy for me again this year.

  12. Just one question, who glamourises war or the military? It is different to be proud of the bravery shown by soldiers, sailors and airmen for the wars of the past, and the word glamour tbh, having seen the effects of war on our service personnel I can confirm there is little or no glamour.

  16. I’d like us follow the SFA’s lead and get Paul Gascoigne inducted, as he done about as much for Killie as he did for the rest of Scottish football. We could then debate the pros and cons, before pulling the nomination at the 11th hour.

  17. I thought all nominations were very worthy inclusions. A wee bit more advertising would have gone a long way however.

  18. Good idea and something we should have but executed badly in my opinion. Inductees should be voted in by fans, not a committee. The club should take more to do with it and it should be advertised better, I never found out about it until a few weeks prior and it was too late to arrange to go. Too many inductees, we'll run out of people to put in it at this rate. Fair play to the people who put it together but with just over half the numbers there that attended the KFCSA dance last year I think the message is clear that some changes should be considered if they want to get buy in from more fans. My wife will destroy me if she finds out we missed out on a chance for her to meet Freddie!

  19. Very impressive. And it also puts SOD's achievements into perspective. I hope he isn't one of the guys thrown under the bus after last night's debacle. I thought he had a pretty poor game, he never puts a performance like that in for Killie, and I think it was the consequence of a system that clearly wasn't working from the first whistle and wasn't changed. Looking over at the dugout and seeing McLeish and Peter Grant can't possibly fill anyone with any degree of confidence. They are yesterday's men who are only there because they couldn't get a job elsewhere.

  21. I will be donating but I won't be wearing a poppy. Don't need to shout out that I am supporting servicemen. Whole thing has turned political and been hijacked by Unionists, UK government & worse of all Rangers fans. I would rather our country supported injured servicemen than them having to rely on charity. Listen youngsters if you join the services & are injured, disabled this UK government will do what they have always done & ignore you.

  27. Thanks for this feedback. John Orr is my great great grandfather. I only recently found this out at a family funeral when I was given a picture (print copy) of him in his Scotland cap and I’m sure it was the Wales game. Edit; it definitely was the Wales game as that was his only cap for Scotland.

  29. I remember the club appealed for any relatives of Willie Culley to contact them at the time of his induction - I thought twice about coming forward as a distant relative! I think we need to establish what the purpose of the Hall of Fame is, apart from having a night out and making some money for the hotel. At the moment, the only individual inductees pre-dating the 1960s are Culley and Smith, which seems to me to be scant representation. What do the inductees get? A bauble of a trophy and a plaque on a wall? I'd rather see a plaque for a pre-WW2 great than have them over-looked to the benefit of someone less worthy but living. I would have thought that one of the purposes of the HoF was to educate supporters about the history of the club and to keep alive the memory of some of its great players. Maybe not. If it's more a case of "Who can we get who's still alive?", I'll get back in my box and hold my peace in future. As an aside, I applaud the induction of Ronnie Hamilton, who has been a great servant to the club as a player, coach and director.

  30. As an ex serviceman I collect for Poppy Scotland every year since I returned to live in Scotland 6 years ago. A few years ago an old army colleague passed away in hospital, a close friend of his completed some paperwork and submitted it to the RBL in England for assistance with his funeral so he wouldn't have a paupers funeral. He was informed by text that it was declined so we had a collection on our Regimental FB site and raised over £1200 + the Army Pensions Office gave £1500 towards his funeral.. it has made me undecided about the RBL as I always donated to them. Like wise with Poppy Scotland . The paperwork was returned about 4 months later..which I thought was disgusting..my dilema is do I still go along every year and Stand for hours in my Blazer with medals and beret on for these people as I believe the 2 companies are the same or do I not .... I'm still undecided 2 years later...

  33. McLeish is only 59 FFS! It would be young if he is suffering the first signs of dementia but I agree that he doesn't seem as sharp as he was comparatively few years ago. His old mucker Miller is only 63 but comes across as much older too - a grumpy old man. Maybe it's all the ball-heading they did.

  38. Nah I'm fine mate, nor did I make it up. My point was housing benefit is effectively a public subsidy of property speculation in the private sector, costing the taxpayer billions every year. In the context of benefits, the amount paid out by the taxpayer has increased, but the proportion of that overall amount going to the claimants has decreased. Yet folk are in serious hardship through introduction of universal credit, tinkering round the edges of the problem. Is a transfer of wealth from poor to rich. What you'd expect from Tory policy. But 25 billion a year is rather a lot!

  40. Some of the hyperbole around Gazza is hilarious. Best player the British isles have ever produced? Nonsense. Give me Dalglish any day. Even from his own era, I'd sooner have Scholes or Giggs in my team. More consistent for far longer and that's shown in how much more they won. Genuinely can't believe someone in here has described him as the best midfielder he's ever seen. Zidane, Iniesta, Xavi, there's a fair few ahead of Gascoigne. He was a wonderful player, but as others have said, not even the best to have played in Scotland when you factor in Laudrup and Larsson.

  42. I think the opposite, I think defenders will treat him as more of a threat. I can't see referees being influenced but I can see defenders being more afraid of him. He's the type of player where defenders will be thinking "If I touch him he could go down", that might gift him a bit more room to do what he does well.
