  3. Tommy Wright won the Scottish Cup and had three fourth placed and a further top six place in six seasons. Let’s be honest, with smaller gates, that trumps Steve Clarke’s record. Should have been considered.

  6. Personally I thought he looked great first 3 or 4 games. However over the course of his whole period I was disappointed. Very weak defensively, great going forward until his final ball. It's a no from me.

  8. He got lucky the day Steve Clarke gave him a call. But for that, there's a good chance he would still be managing in non-league, if at all. From BB's point of view, he would say that he tried going down the ambitious route in appointing AA, albeit I think they got the wrong guy. Once bitten twice shy, better the devil you know, got our fingers burned, etc. We know what we will get from AD and, unfortunately, it's likely to be Bottom Six (or whatever number applies).

  9. Did it? So if he was subbed then we would definitely have won? I'd have taken him off too FWIW, but pinning the blame on Dyer here is reaching and it's just to make it fit your opinion. The only thing you can say for certain in that game is that our best defender completely lost the head at a crucial time and cost us dearly. Dyer wouldn't have got a single bit of slack if Findlay didn't dive in. That's why nobody questioned Steve Clarke making the same type of changes almost week in week out, but Dyer is fair game it seems. Just a side note, can't believe with everything that's going on in the world I'm still on here ranting about THAT bloody Aberdeen game, lol.

  11. I'd love to have him back. He's a good left back filled the shoes of Taylor pretty well and his first touch is brilliant. Plus QPR have 2 Left backs anyway so we could get him back. And we'd need him back with Hendrie and Waters out of contract adds them to the list of hundreds at the club.

  19. Gary Dicker has rubbished the idea that Scottish football can return in the near future. The Kilmarnock captain has spoken out strongly against resuming play before September and insists SPFL players will fear for their families' safety. He declared he will only get back on the pitch when given certain assurances. Dicker's wife works at a funeral home, ensuring the Irishman has received first-hand accounts of the devastation caused by the coronavirus pandemic. He told The Scottish Sun : “I think everyone wants to get back playing but it is unrealistic to think we can do it any time soon. “You will get a lot of players who will be reluctant as a lot of their families have health issues. updates “My wife’s mum has a heart condition so how could I even think of putting her at risk? “My wife works in a funeral home so I’m all too aware of what this pandemic is doing. “Down south they are talking about teams being holed up in hotels for weeks on end to try and get matches on. It would be extremely hard mentally to be away from your family under those circumstances. “Players will only go back when it is safe and they have certain assurances." Dicker points out that more than just players are needed to stage fixtures and raised questions over whether the Premiership 's foreign stars would be forced into quarantine upon their return to the UK. He's urged football bosses to set more realistic targets, insisting it won't be safe to play "for a very long time". “You also need a lot more than the players to put on a football match. There would be match officials, police and all the medical staff as well. “You will need stewards because people will almost certainly try to watch these games by any means possible. “Players would understandably be concerned and I just don’t see how we can get back playing in Scotland this season. “Unfortunately, I don’t think you can be 100 per cent safe for a very long time. “Another aspect that hasn’t been mentioned much is having to put all the foreign players into quarantine when they return to Scotland. “They can’t just come back and start training so they will have to isolate for two or three weeks. That will slow down the process even further. “There will be a lot of players who are unable to fly out of certain countries as well because of airports being locked down. “I don’t understand why the people in charge don’t give themselves a realistic target to aim for. “There are so many ifs and buts and they are putting themselves under needless pressure by saying we will be back in May, June or even July.” https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gary-dicker-sets-out-fierce-21969099

  20. One of many loan and out of contract players we may never see again at Rugby Park , not too bad a place to be locked down in though ##### NIKO HAMALAINEN admits he’ll be gutted if he misses out on a Kilmarnock return as the move helped him mature as a player. The young defender has flourished at Rugby Park this season after signing on loan from Queens Park Rangers. But, with the deal due to run out at the end of this month, he is worried he won’t get the chance to return to Ayrshire. Hamalainen said: “Going to Kilmarnock was a big thing. It would be disappointing not to return. It is probably the first time I have had the chance to play every game during a season and be playing in the top team. “Training all through the week, getting my body right and mentality right to play game on game. “I also wasn’t used to playing in front of fans. All this has come together to improve me. “I feel it has matured me a lot. It has made me a man as a footballer. In my career, it’s been a tremendous step. “I have thought about a scenario where I might not ever get back to play for Killie in the future, but I try not to. “There’s nothing anyone can do at the moment, there isn’t even a date for returning, so I’m really without any idea right now.” Hamalainen is currently holed up with his family in the USA as he embraces lockdown in the Florida sunshine. He said: “I flew back home to America when football stopped. “As a US passport holder, I was able to return to the States without a problem. I’m back in West Palm Beach right now with my parents and my sister. “In the morning, I drive to go and train a little bit and all I can see is clear skies, sunshine and palm trees everywhere. “Things are slowly opening back up, but there is still plenty of lockdown, so the situation is kind of the same as it is in the UK.” https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/5557615/niko-hamalainen-gutted-miss-out-kilmarnock-return/

  21. See for the people saying Dyer wasnt at fault for the Aberdeen defeat, I assume you didnt blame Alessio for Nomads defeat? I did blame Alessio, but at the same time our 1.5 million pound left back scored a shocker of an own goal and IIRC he missed not one, but 2 big chances to put us ahead at home in the 2nd game. Anyway, back to the point. Dyer was a big part to blame for the Aberdeen defeat, but as were his players

  31. I'd have agreed with that if it wasn't for the pandemic. Even if we did interviews by Zoom, you'd be appointing someone in a situation where he couldn't even meet the players for months... That's a hell of a risk on top of everything else we're about to be dealing with. The number one priority at the moment is ensuring we still have a Kilmarnock Fc at Christmas and still have eleven players if the league does restart. I could be wrong, but stability in management seems wise in helping that. I struggle to engage with any discussion on where we finish etc at the moment - Scottish football is about to have to fight tooth and nail for its existence.

  32. I can't get my head around this at all. I understand that a full recruitment process atm would be difficult, but if we do give Dyer the job beyond 2019/20 without even looking elsewhere then its nothing short of a dereliction of duty. We did the same in the summer with the blase approach to bringing in a new manager when it was clear Clarke was off, which contributed to Alessio's poor start. Alex Dyer has done great things for Kilmarnock, and is a great guy who we all respect. But he didn't just have a few weeks to show us what he could do. He had a sustained time and the results were stark. League placing fell from what we were sitting at under AA, the alleged 'boost' that we'd get from appointing the guy the players wanted never materialised (we've done this a lot recently and it has never worked, not once), and he made numerous basic errors that cost us points and a place in the cup. The simple fact is that there are better options out there. I was never sold on Gary Holt a year or so ago, but he's proven himself as a Premiership manager now. His contract is a year-to-year rolling one so we could get him for nothing in a months time. If Dyer "knows Killie" and how to work the budget we'd have, then surely the same can be said of Holt - he arguably knows the club better than most and has done great work with a much smaller budget. Tommy Wright, whilst not playing the prettiest football (albeit that did change somewhat towards the end of his time) has a great track record of working miracles with small budgets. He's available for free right now, and with the Irish FA supposedly not in a rush to appoint O'Neill's successor, we could have snuck in and got him. And that's just two of the guys that would know the game up here, before you look afield to England and beyond. If the decision to appoint Dyer is made, I'm afraid for where we could end up once all this is over. Bowie has literally said that Clarke's appointment showed him you can't scrimp when it comes to managers and he took a risk on Alessio and it didn't work - fine, it happens. But to throw the baby out with the bath water and just go for the easy option is the wrong move for me. Anything other than a full recruitment drive with the best manager appointed at the end of it is a dereliction of duty - that's all there is to it.

  33. I paid my golf fees not knowing when or if we would get to play this season, the club has lost its full income stream and the idea of games being played behind closed doors worries me even more as the players would no longer be furloughed, the club would be due to pay their wages, If individuals were happy to pay for a ST with no guarantee of football, then the club could possibly incentivise it by recruiting local businesses to allow a generous discounts , that way the buyer could “make up” the cost of the ST in other produce or services. Just a thought.

  34. Surely the argument for not restarting the football season is that it would require thousands of coronavirus tests to be taken away from NHS staff, key workers and vulnerable groups. At the moment, because we’ve failed miserably as a country to do enough testing, you can’t justify wasting much needed tests on sport. I’m not sure I have much time for what Dicker is saying here tbh.

  36. I'll reserve judgement on this until we see the details of any deal. If its a two three year deal I think it's fair to say its not been merited. However, if its the case that we as a club gave him our word that he would be here until the end of the season prior to the current situation, I can see why giving the guy a bit more time to judge would at least be considered the respectful thing to do. He's been good for us as assistant, giving him a deal to the end of the season then that deal being cut premature due to horrendous circumstances and automatically giving him the bullet wouldn't paint us in best light. The devil will be in the details of this deal imo.

  37. If he is given the job again. We all need to back him and give the club all our support. I hope the decision on who is going to be manager is done quickly as it'll give him the time needed to prepare us for next season whenever that will be.

  39. Being honest anyone taking the Killie job after Stevie Clarke is a big task .Like McLean and Fergie they will be compared to him and expect top six as norm .Dyer done one thing right and beat Sevco he was also dreadfully unlucky not to get a result against the Dons in the cup.The team did seem to be playing a bit better though.IMHO we should have went for Gary Holt at the very start who like Clarke has his team punching well above there weight

  42. This just compounds the Alessio mess! The points accumulated and the standard of football under Dyer has been dreadful. He won’t last the season! Can anyone tell me anything in the games he has been in charge that suggests he should be the manager full time? Despair!

  43. You do have to wonder what he's done to convince the board he's the man for the job? I understand current circumstances might be a factor though

  44. Of course it’s paper gossip at the moment but I’d love to know the reasoning behind any decision. I was shocked at the decision to give him the role until the end of the season. Since then it’s been ups and downs. A few good performances and a couple of shockers. IMO his popularity is doing him a lot of favours. I hope I’m wrong but look where we were with popular well liked figures in the past

  45. I’ve seen the claim that WM government hamstrung what was a relatively strong testing regime in Scotland but is there actually any evidence of this? I ask as someone who would normally trust the Scottish government to do a much better job than the current Johnson one but if this is true, It’s pretty disappointing that more is not made of this in the media - in fact if anything the media tends to portray Scotland as lagging behind. The whole 100,000 target seems to me to be a publicity stunt - both the target itself which seems to have been purely a number and the way it was achieved. Every day they have just expanded eligibility to the point that more or less anyone can request a test and I am sure there are 1000s who requested one with very little justification. Counting 40,000 tests that have been sent out that day is scandalous. Also read that the proportion of tests involiving the same person being tested twice in a day has shot up over the last week which again sounds suspicious. I’m not an expert but surely there is very little substance in wildly aiming for a huge volume of tests. throughout the whole thing the criticism and vitriol aimed at the Scottish Government and Sturgeon in particular from public and media amazes me, in my opinion she takes such a strong position, speaks so clearly and has such a remarkable grasp of the detail I think she is a million miles ahead of anyone fronting the UK government. My only theory is that her honesty means that people don’t like what she has to say in comparison to the over confident, positive waffle coming from the likes of Boris Johnson. Sturgeon just cannot win. Announce anything slightly different to or before WM and she is political point scoring. Fail to respond immediately with an equivalent offer after the UK government announce some kind of payment out of the blue and she is behind the curve. personally all the other arguments aside I’m thoroughly convinced that we would have seen a much better managed crisis had the Scottish government been fully in charge, that said Unfortunately it really wouldn’t be difficult.
