  1. Seen folk on Facebook moaning about prices. Prices are very reasonable IMO. Last (non covid discount) season was £370. Tenner increase. 50p a game. Same folk will be wanting us to push boat out for lafferty.

  4. Firstly, no one is censoring anything here - the SFWA can choose whomever they like to tell uncouth jokes and they won't be fined or prosecuted for it (save in extreme cases where actual hate speech is involved), but that doesn't mean they are or should be free from consequences. This seems to be a refrain of the "PC gone mad" brigade - they feel they should be able to say what they like free from critcism or consequences. In this case - bad jokes were made, people walked out, SFWA receive bad press. No one went to jail, no one was banned from performing the SFWA can have him back next year if they fancy - they'll probably just have even fewer decent people attend. Second, if you get rid of jokes like these, comedy gets better. Although it's obviously subjective, the best comedy (i.e. the stuff with the most longevity) punches up, not down. A white guy making jokes about women, racial minorities, LGBQT people, catholics, etc. is punching down at people who face challenges because of properties they cannot and should not be have to change about themselves. For example, making jokes about catholics is essentially reliant on schadenfreude, basically coming from a place of cruelty and can cause genuine social harm and furthers the division, but joking about the institution of the catholic church is punching up, e.g. making fun of the absurdity of an institution where leaders take vows of poverty and charity while living and working in possibly the most spectacular palace ever constructed comes from a place of outrage that almost everyone can relate to because we're all painfully familar with hypocrisy in power. In this case, a bit like what tends to happen at the the white house correspondents' dinner, this guy missed the glorious opportunity to make jokes at the expense of the organisation right in from of him - the SFWA, a smug, insular, sexist and really quite xenophobic organisation that (in my thoroughly unproven opinion) actively damages our game rather than promotes it.

  5. If its folk moaning for moaning sake have a go. However if folk are saying it's too expensive, take a second before jumping in. It's all relative. What somebody can afford , the next person can't. When it's broken down per game it's still OK price I suppose( scottish footballs overpriced, but that's another argument). But for example, £640 / £680 is alot of money. There's no way I can justify those figures at home . I'm looking at other options to see if I can get one myself and maybe pay as they go with the kids ( which are very well priced) . But still a big decision. Please don't judge folk who comment on the expense of them , nobody knows the next person's circumstances. However if they're just saying feck that , that's nonsense clubs taking the Mickley etc etc feel free to wade in ?⚪?⚪??

  9. £480 to £640 = £160 increase on last season's early pricing. I appreciate on the face of it that looks steep however that is coming out at £33.68 for 2 adults & 2 kids per game based on a 19 game season, so still represents good value.

  10. I think the comments about Rory finding his level etc are hugely unfair. I think this season he had a set position and a run of games in an area of the park that clearly suits him. This must be close to his tenth manager now indicating that he’s clearly better than some of our support think. Additionally he’s just won POTY award which means his team mates, past and present, appreciate what he brings to the side. I absolutely love the wee fella and it pleases me no end to see that the vast majority of the support are now beginning to realise how important he is to the team. Not sure who made the comments earlier in the year when McInnes came in, but it was along the lines of Rory not being good enough and he will be one of the first out the door when McInnes starts the rebuild… instead he’s the first to sign an extension.

  13. I am a huge Chris Burke fan, he has given his absolute maximum to Killie over the last few seasons. I also think he is a brilliant guy to gave around the place. Without Chris Burke thiis season we would still be a Championship club, no question. However, he has featured much less this season and it is obvious he is coming to the end of his career. I do not want him to stain his legacy by playing in the top league when it is probably now beyond him. We should keep him at all cost in a coaching capacity and nurture him (if he has ambitions) to being a future Killie Manager like Burns and Williamson in days gone by.

  14. McKenzie is a great subject to bring up because it reveals the narcissists - those people that are so emotionally attached to their ego that it's not that they won't change their mind, they actually can't no matter how much evidence they're presented with. Manager after manager picks him, the four most successful managers since he joined us chose to extend him without hesitation, he played nearly 300 times in the Premier league, and won our player of the year in the championship. Even incredibly specific claims like "he's not a McInnes player, he won't be in the team by the end of the transfer window" were directly proven wrong, and I can say with complete certainty that their internal process isn't to think "well maybe I was wrong", it will be to frantically rationalise around why we couldn't sign any of those players that would offer more. Those players that are so easy to come by that none of our managers have managed it in 300+ games over 9 or so years now.

  15. McGinn was perfect for us in the Championship. We saw first hand how few composed, controlled midfielders there are at that level. His premiership days are past him. He can go to another good Championship side and play football most weeks. With all the good will in the world to him, he's not going to get that here. A good year for both parties where he showed up well but I don't think it would benefit anyone for him to have stayed on here at this stage in his career.

  16. Sadly this might be the case for a lot of people this season. Season ticket prices increasing were always likely and unfortunately things are much tighter for most of us.

  17. Oh well both @muza1962 and @Allymitchell91 were right and season ticket packages did indeed come out today……… An early bird £380 adult ticket working out at £20 per home game (assuming a 19 home allocation) is pretty reasonable when you consider that £20 had been the walk up price for this past season in the Championship. Off of this, I’d be expecting walk up prices to be around the £22 to £23 mark. Good to see no “nonsense” of Moffat excluding OF games - that would seem to suggest “they” are just going to get the Chadwick and so that’s good……well done to the Board on that. I hope as many as people as possible are able to renew - times are tough for folks just now and so there will be lots of folks having to make difficult decisions in terms of what their priorities are and where a Killie season ticket sits amongst all of that.

  18. Our run of cup finals and league places from the early sixties through to finally winning the league in 65 was phenomenal. Add in our invitation to be one of the teams to try to launch the American league, reaching the final in the competition, and our Fairs cup semi final against Leeds and we were in that time one of the top club sides in the world.

  20. For me last year I was £300 (loyalty adult) and £25 (under 16) = £325. This year £380 (adult) and £40 (under 16) =£420. Initially it seems steep as there's a £95 increase. However last year took into account the loyalty discount, and over 19 games it works out at £22 a game for us to watch the football. Personally think that's a fair price to watch my team back in the premiership.

  21. Lots of speculation on here and quite a few specifics in that post from @piffer All I would say is that if DM is here to stay for the foreseeable and is being allowed to put his stamp on the place and “put a proper infrastructure in place” then the first thing that needs to be sorted out and addressed is DM’s contractual position seeing as he now has only around 12 months or so left on his original 18 month term……that needs to be extended pronto and, so as to give us some kind of protection from a “Hibs type” approach a suitable level of compensation clause inserted in his deal.

  22. On the face of it, it looks a big increase however comparing it with full price season tickets: Last season - 2 x adults @ £350 and 2 x U16’s @ £40 - £780. Package price - £520, saving £260. This season - 2 x adults @ £400 and 2 x U16’s @ £60 - £920. Package price - £680, saving £240. Not that it applies to me, but I think the family ticket that the club offers is great value for money with the breakdown per game mentioned above ??

  23. What it says in the club statement in the OP is that he has been “offered a full-time coaching position as both the club and the manager are keen to extend Chris’s association at Rugby Park.” He might come back and ask if he can be registered as a player but that isn’t what’s on the table just now. I wonder if he might think he has another year in him and will end up at Firhill or somewhere. I think that would be a mistake because he has to look to the future and a year working with McInnes & co will pay more long-term dividend than another year in the Championship or becoming another pundit in an already over-filled pond. He is a clever guy who has other business interests and he might surprise us all but, if he has decided to follow a coaching or management route, he is being offered a great place to start.

  24. It certainly looked to me that Naismith was seriously hampered with his lack of fitness through most of last season. The previous injury problems that you refer to at St Mirren could explain a lot. I was never his biggest fan but I think some of the comments about Naismith being lazy etc are probably wide of the mark and unfair. To me, he looked like a forlorn figure at times, who was probably frustrated that he couldn't do himself justice. You never want to see a player's career curtailed through injury. He doesn't deserve to be crucified and I hope he manages to get his career back on track somewhere and puts his injury problems behind him.

  25. Another premier league manager, another new deal for McKenzie. Am I right in thinking his pro deals signed have been for Jefferies, Kenny Shiels, Steve Clarke and now McInnes? Not a bad collection of names to endorse him.

  31. That’s a subject for debate! Back in 1960 there were three European competitions - the European Cup, the Cup Winners’ Cup and the "International Industries Fairs Inter-Cities Cup”. The last, which became known by the less unwieldy Fairs Cup and evolved into the UEFA Cup, had been running since 1955. As the name implies, it was designed for cities which hosted international trade and industry fairs. The original rules also provided for just one team per city so there was, for example, a select team representing London. The concept was that matches would coincide with trade fairs so the two legs could be months apart. Small wonder the early tournaments took two to three years to complete. Qualification was also not on merit but by invitation. Long story short - in 1960-61, Scotland’s first ever representatives in the competition were not second-place Killie but seventh-placed Hibs. Kilmarnock, of course, was not a city which hosted trade fairs so we were awarded Scotland’s place in the inaugural International Soccer League in the US as a consolation. The following season, Scotland’s representatives in Europe were Rangers (European Cup), Dunfermline (Cup Winners Cup), Hearts and Hibs (Fairs Cup). Hearts and Hibs had finished seventh and eighth (the one club per city rule had evidently been dropped). Killie, who again had finished second, were given the US place and continued to be affected by these rules. Going to New York in May/June meant playing in sweltering temperatures before small crowds on bumpy baseball fields and, in 1960, going back in August for the final against Bangu. So the players’ close season was shortened although it should be said that it was fairly common for clubs to undertake post-season tours in those days. On the other hand, I think it’s on the record that the tours greatly benefited team spirit and the players gained experience by playing teams from Europe and South America. It was only in 1964 that clubs qualified for the Fairs Cup on merit and, of course, we competed against Eintracht Frankfurt and Everton. It would have been interesting to have seen what the team of the early Sixties would have achieved if they had experienced European football from 1960 instead of going to New York.

  32. Can you not see that Rory is the new Fowler ? the Fow player everywhere from full back to attacking mid . he never held down a place and if you could find the old kickback I am sure you would find loads of posts where you could delete fowler and Rory . As soon as Fowler retired he was missed as he did the dirty work or covered a position we when the regular was suspended or injured . regular 6/10 . sometime brilliant sometime rubbish but generally gave his all . To have a loyal committed player who is also a fan is rare in this day and age . he is not the star of the team or the man we will build the team around but we will be poorer without him in the squad .

  33. Had a quick read over and all accounts a good comprehensive package offered by the club. Good to see free under 5s staying, family ticket and early bird discounts. Also great to see a finance option to make STs as affordable and accessible for as many fans as possible. Will sort my renewal in the coming days and can't wait to get back to Premiership action at Rugby Park next season. Together we are stronger. KTID.

  34. The criticism Rory gets from some is over the top but so is the praise from others. The two things end up feeding each other and it leads to more and more of these pointless debates. I’m glad he stayed. He’s been a good servant to the club and is a very useful player to have around. However we will struggle in the Premiership if we start the season with Rory as our best midfielder, which he probably is at the moment. He will need better players around him to enable him to do what he does best. I’m pretty sure McInnes knows this.

  35. Best of luck to McGinn, he never gave less than his best. Burke will do whatever he thinks is best for him, although be great to have him around the place until such times as he's ready to be a coach or manager in his own right. Other than Haunstrup who may well have done a job, the rest can go. Polworth, McGowan and Cameron can go too, wouldn't be unhappy to see Hodson and Waters join them. A loan out for Armstrong, not sure if he rise to the challenge of the Premier League. Special mention to Jason Naismith, one of the laziest and most spineless players I've seen pull on the stripes. Onwards and upwards.

  36. Sad to see McGinn go, and hope he gets a good club elsewhere, which would be very well deserved. I really hope Burke decides that he wants to continue his coaching development with the club, as he is a real asset. It doesn’t sound likely, but I’d have been happy to see him remain registered as a player/coach to step in if needed. Also need to hope McInnes has a couple of good full-backs in his sights, because right now we don’t have a single one worthy of the name. Haunstrup’s departure has looked inevitable for a while, but I’m sad to see him go too, and really hope we can get good players for these vital positions. Interesting summer ahead - definitely a few gaps needing filled with quality additions. Never a dull moment.

  38. Read some of the histories. Read some of the excellent pieces on killiefc.com. Don't be dismissive of posts on here from older fans recalling great (and s**te) moments. Chat to some older fans to hear their stories. Are you not interested in 64-65, beating Frankfurt, drawing with Real Madrid? Why is a stand named after Frank Beattie? Who was he? Are you not curious? None of us were alive in 1920 or 1929 but I am sure, like me, most fans want to know and have read about the cup wins in these years.
